  • one thing is missing. transperency.

shadows, when sun is low, not only grow longer - but also less visible. in that last cap - try and drag the sun far away offscreen and see what happends.

Actually, the shadows stay the same, It's everything around that gets darker.

This thread is getting interesting. How much more realistic can we make this?

10 points to anyone who finds something to improve.

to the point when i will need to turn my desk lamp on and itll also cast shadows ingame

  • Don't laugh with a webcam we MIGHT JUST BE ABLE TO DO THAT

Ok it would probably require a custom plugin but still.

Probably wouldn't be too hard. The only info you'd really need for something simple is the average brightness of the picture feed. From there, you could adjust the brightness of the room, or create a shadows that responds to the light feed.

For something a bit more complex, factor in webcam position and split the average brightness into smaller sectors.

I'm no programmer however, so I might be making it sound a lot simpler than it is.

  • ...what have i started!?!

  • Wow!.this thread is stil going strong?.Wish someone could create a proper realtime shadow plugin that would be nice.Next challenge would be to make the shadows change thier shape when they are on top of the boxes.Like going down the side of the box etc...

  • What is that? Doesn't really look right. You'll have to post the .cap as well, otherwise it doesn't really mean anything. Could as well be photoshopped.

Ok so you managed to flip the shadows upside down,Looks wierd though.

  • Yeah, shadows on the sky isn't really something you'll see in a real life situation.

But some kind of moving shadow on the trees might look good though. Anyone?

That would be tricky but not impossible.Hint : Flip the shadows rightside up and make them a bit smaller than the actual tree , Then As the sun moves the smaller shadows on the trees will move ever so slightly.Sounds easy enough , But how does one stop the shadow from moving all the way to the left or right?.This will make a great competition,The one with the most realistically looking shadow will be the winner.
