  • Hey guys, thanks to the help of the community, i finally got my .cap for this hobby game i am working on to work!

Story (subject to change) : On a unknown world, far away from Earth, Two robotic factions fight it out for territorial control over the planet XionIV. However, a battle in space has caused them both to crash into the planet. 100 years later, both sides wake up one by one, rebuilt, and geared for war once again.

Below is a yet to be textured version of the main character, i have yet to add in the rest of the gear, this is more or so a base copy i may work off of.

Release: It will be on a when it is done approach.

DL: None at the moment, however if you find my mediafire account you can probably snatch yourself a alpha copy that only contains a working menu and a broken options screen.

    ---FAQ---

If they are old enemies fighting on a new ground, you could use this theme for the title and put your splash screen direct in action, more than "battle robots" on a space background, which can be any game.

What type of gameplay would it be?

Answer: What you have said makes sense, if it sounds fitting, i will add a sub header under Battle Bots that says "Direct Assault" or "The Age Old Conflict". As for your second question, to answer it: The player will be given a number of weapons they may obtain throughout the game, these include but are not limited to: Melee, Long range weapons and Medium range weapons, so i suppose a hack and slash co-operative game that it played like those 2d side scrolling games, only i am using 3d models and worlds. I am going to try to work towards making the co op portion work first so friends can play together. Hope i answered it to your likings.

C+C is welcome, anything to improve this.

    Thanks.

    is that a challenge ? <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Maybe... <img src="smileys/smiley14.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • well, i haven't found it but i got some idea for your game.

First, give us the choice to choose the faction we want to play.Add good/bad stat to both side (like one team have special ability to regenerate if they are near another special unit...)then the game start when the fist battle is going to end( and will be used as a tutorial and wil show the player what his robot could look like upgraded to the max) so the player will feel more enthusiast to come back later stronger.

after that, you launch the intro that will show you the planet 100 years later. You could start with a small robot trying to kill other robot to get some scrap part to upgrade it till you can go back in space. With each upgrade you can choose whether your robot will be for offensive or for defensive with some special perk.

Game would be more fun if it is open world and you can encounter Smaller/Bigger robots that you will fight later when you will be strong enough.

    Kind of Spore with robots.

  • I actually like that idea, the first level is a fight 100 years earlier where you actually are in a fully powered state, then when it crashes into the planet and 100 years later when you are brought back online, you will have lost almost all of your equipment and you will have to retrieve them. Anyway i won't spoil anymore of it.

But yeah i might make a sides thing.

  • Battlebots is kind of taken, so is Robot Wars.

    How about Robot Battle?

No wait, um how about Bot Wars?

  • I don't think it would be a issue as long as it had nothing to do with what that game is, right?

  • No, but using a well known name might be a bit misleading.

I was like, "Oh Battlebots, I remember that show...oh wait".

  • I kinda like

'Robots That Are Programmed to be Able to Fight, and Do'

    ...kinda catchy
