How do you do this?

Sorry if it's already posted, but I don't know what it is called to search for it.

First off, how do you achieve the effect shown at 5:40 in this video:

And then how do you make the objects cast shadows, like at 4:53 in the same video?

Is there a way to do that without the need for a 3d box?

The first effect you mentioned is done using the bumpmapping shader, which is explained on this wiki page.

The shadows are done using the shadow casting behavior and the light object. You put the shadow casting behavior on the objects you want to cast shadows, then the shadows will be cast based on where the light objects are.
