Events window not popping up

Whenever I go to add a new event or action in the event sheet editor, nothing happens, I just get a 'ding' when I try to do something, I can press escape to go back to construct. Is very strange, I've reinstalled construct twice now but the error keeps returning.

Did you try using the maximize in the upper right hand corner?

try doubleclicking the event sheet in on the project pane

sometimes construct starts up without it open, and thats how I fix it
