Educational Games in Construct

Hello everyone!

I'm an elementary school teacher, and a fellow teacher has recommended me The Games Factory 2 for making educational games. However, I'm looking for a cheaper (or free) alternative.

I've uploaded an example game my friend has created using Multimedia Fusion. Could anyone guide me on making a similar game in Construct?

No offense, but since this is your first post, and downloading some random exe is not very safe.

It might be better just to ask, but the chances are that it can.

This game asks the player to answer simple math questions. It also has a lot of details in the animations and sounds which are quite hard to explain. It would be easier if you could open it. It was my friend who made this exe, not me, but I guarantee this is safe. Scan it if you wish.

I just tried it, it shouldn't be hard to make. I think hardest (most time consuming) would be create all the graphics and animations, sounds and music. If you have all that, than the rest could be done in few hours. I'm busy with my own projects, but someone else might help you or post a specific question.

It's great you are considering Construct for educational resources. The tutorials forum has a lot of tutorials:

It's best if you start making what you want, then post whenever you come across something you get stuck on. You said you don't know where to start, but some of those tutorials should give you a good starting point.

After downloading the app you posted details about, i have had a go at creating something similar with Construct.

Part1

Contains all the graphics and test animations for the project (thats the hard bit out of the way)

(I had to 'borrow' some of the graphics from your upload !)

Not done yet, but i should have it finished by tomorrow and will post details here.

In the meantime you can have a look at the events in the first part to see how i created it.

I am not an expert myself, and there might be easier ways, but this is the way i would build it.

If any one else wants to have a go at finishing the game then feel free to use / modify / improve the cap file.

P.S i got an E in maths and English.

Still not finished, but you can get the latest here (Maths teacher 2.5).

I'm still trying to work out how to write the events for the math calculations.

Then i will add the sound.
