  • Hi.

Construct keeps crashing, and I don't really know why!

It has something to do with the objects used in my game, I'm sure, as they keep disappearing at random, and as soon as they do Construct crashes the next time I try to create/manipulate an object.

    Here's the error code:

    Problemsignatur:

    APPCRASH: Construct.exe

    Version: 1.0.0.1

    Exception code: e06d7363

    Additional information 1: bc75

    Additional information 2: 6e59f24bb80da7e6ab96b02409422d7c

    Additional information 3: dd6a

    Additional information 4: b6670f5d40d5607b29d0364746ac1dc5

    Here's the cap: http://junk.drule.net/Buck%200.1.cap

    Any ideas?

  • There are no events in this project, is this intended? Anyway, it seems to run fine for me, it is just the four objects (sprite, platform hitbox, tiled background and camera). No crashes. I am using Construct 0.99.84

  • There are no events because I can't get past the project crashing. The error occurs when I start messing around with copying/pasting/duplicating/creating/deleting objects.

  • Are you using the latest unstable version of Construct? 0.99.84 has the SSE2 fix.

Also, make sure the VC 2005 redistributables are installed as well as DirectX 9 is updated with necessary files (press yes on popups when you install Construct).

Create a brand new project and see if it still crashes.

  • Are any of these objects copied from another .cap?

Try copying the player sprite and then doing "Paste Clone." The Camera object will disappear. Trying to undo the paste will crash Construct. v0.99.84

This .cap is probably small and simple enough to stick on the bug tracker, which is what you should do Drule. The mantra goes "all crashes are bugs" and whatnot. It might be a corrupt .cap, or there might be a problem with cloning. Not really sure either way.

Anyway, Mr Wolf has a good question... were these copied from another .cap? And what version of Construct did you first create this .cap in?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Looks like a corrupt .cap. Definitely post it on the tracker for devs to look at. They're dying to fix such bugs

I'm using version 0.99.82, and I'm pretty sure I have all necessary packages. Also, I did create a new project using the same objects - which is the .cap I provided - but I kept encountering the same problems.

Are any of these objects copied from another .cap?

    Yes.

    Looks like a corrupt .cap.

It's not. I started a new cap and copied these objects over.

Which is likely what corrupted it. As in, it's a bug with copying objects from one .cap to another.

Did you copy the objects from a .cap that was made prior to v0.99.82? You could try saving that old .cap in v.0.99.82 and then copy the objects to a fresh .cap and see if that helps.

  • Copying objects from one .cap to another will ruin things. For example, if you copy a sprite (maybe any object or maybe just layout objects) into another .cap and try to select it in the object list, it will freeze. I'd suggest recreating the objects again in the new .cap. You can just copy/paste images from the image editor or whatever, but whole objects from .cap to .cap doesn't work right.
