Selecting a sprite under another sprite in edit mode

Hi! The problem is this - if I have three sprites on my layout and they are all stretched across the layout, I have a hard time selecting the bottom one. I have to lock all the top sprites first.

Is there any way to select the bottom one at once?

I select it in the Z Order panel, but still the topmost one becomes active when I click on it. This is very inconvenient.

Hold tab and click on the sprites.
