How do I request project image files to set my sprites images?

To reduce the size of my project, I would like to know how to save images from URL to the project's file and then, set the sprites images to project's file images:

The only way would be to save the images as a bas64 string into the users local storage.

This is a terrible idea as the strings are much less compact than the original images, and would waste the users memory.

Images should be used unless there is a requirement there should only be one file.

With the new Binary Data object you could download the files and save them to storage keeping them in binary (so no base64 bloat). Then you can load them from storage back in to Binary Data, and load BinaryData.GetURL in to the sprite.

Thank you for your answer newt, too bad... I will increase the file size so. I understand that to put at maximum 60 Mo of image in the local storage should be a bad for the users memory. If you have an other solution, please tell me...

Just an other thing, Is it possible to do the same thing with audio file? Like: playing a .wav file by URL?

If you can serialize the wave file and store it in binary data plugin it should be possible. I need to see which action are exposed on the audio plugin. I can give this a try a bit later.

And I have to much sounds files... Maybe, the best way for that, is to use an Iframe request ("navigate URL") each time I want to play a music and a sound (or just put a minimum of sound file in the "sound" folder)

Or, is it possible (like the most of android apps) to store the data on an other folder to avoid the local storage? For example, I looked on my phone that the application's "Spotify" size is to 62mo BUT his datas are stored on my SD card, about 272mo!

And, I don't want to publish a game with 300mo... I just need to exploit the data files of the phone...

I think that's out of date - most browsers now give you a lot more, based on a proportion of the available storage space. For example Construct's About dialog shows how much the browser is allowing for Construct 3 itself, which on my system shows it allows 31 GB. I'll edit the manual entry to note that.

BTW Android's new App Bundles already support larger file sizes, but I think you have to publish those via Android Studio since the build process works differently.

Ok, perfect (1gb should be broadly enough), the last problem is to load audio files from URL, is it possible to add this feature in the next Construct 3's beta version? Ashley
