  • Hello I had a problem with my project when I tried to open it, it is a local project, the browser had crashed just when I was saving and everything went blank then the layouts appeared again and continued saving and when it finished I restarted the PC then I tried to open it and gave this error below

Failed to open project. Verify that it is a valid Construct 3 single-file project (.c3p).

  • Press F12 and check for error messages in console tab.

Seems like this has become a frequent problem, I see this questions almost every day here.

  • Those are just some warnings.

Scroll to the very end of the console log and copy the last few errors.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Rename the file extension to .ZIP

Try opening it with Windows or MacOS or Winzip. If you are unable to extract files from it - you are out of luck.

I did this and it says that the file is corrupted, there is nothing inside the folder besides an eventsheet that won't open, I think it's unfair to prder my project that was well advanced because of this error inside C3, but do what I start again

  • You can try sending your project to Construct support. But there is very little chance they will be able to help you.

To prevent this happening in the future, I suggest making backup copies of your project at least daily. And you can configure automatic backups in C3.

  • If anyone sends us a project that is a corrupted zip, all I do is try WinRAR's 'Repair' button. You can try that yourself. Usually it doesn't bring everything back though - corrupt data usually means something has gone missing.

I noticed and brought it all back, but it didn't bring the main files for me to open as local folder
