Can't access the cloud saves with either of these latest updates (stable or beta).

Had to revert back to the previous release.

  • With the current build construct3-win64-c71-beta i can't open the google cloud. I get always the message:

    Failed to refresh file list

EDIT: With the parameter --disable-web-security works.

  • Updated the original post with new download links based on NW.js 0.35.1, which should fix two issues with Cloud Save not working, and saving a local file showing an "Open" dialog instead.

I can confirm that both features are working fine on my end.

  • Wow! This c71 version works with big animations in animation editor MUCH faster, without lags! Thanks!

  • I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on this! Using Construct 3 in a chromium shortcut gives it a mostly desktop feel, but opening project folders instead of .cap files and working with larger files in general is really exciting.

I don't have a copy of windows installed anymore, so I can't help beta test (I could use wine but that might bring bugs that don't work natively). Best of luck with the project, and thank you for such great game making software!

  • Hello! I probably can't help on specific questions and things you might be looking for feedback on because I only just started seriously using C3 a couple of days ago.

Today I purchased the 1 year subscription. Reason I chose C3 is I played around a bit with both C2 & C3 and it made sense to me to just go with C3 because I am guessing this is the one that will be moving forward faster AND because I found this thread and downloaded the desktop version.

Honestly if it hadn't been for this desktop version I would have either went with Construct 2 or nothing. I know in this age everyone wants web stuff but I personally do not like it.

Especially for doing development work it just seems really weird to me although I know Construct is hardly the one development software that is using this route.

Anyway, I am very thankful you made this desktop downloadable version. And I have run into 0 problems working in it. I mean sometimes there might be some minimal thing like focus is lost or something. The normal stuff that happens in anything. No software is perfect so I have no unrealistic expectations for this to be. That is unreasonable. I have not ran into any real bugs as in things that simply are not working for me or crashes or anything like that.

  • Can someone compare the speed of this nodeJS build and the older C2-windows build ? I am only interested in C3 if its offline usable and if the Editor is smooth as the C2 Editor. Can it handle big projects like C2 ?

  • Spax C3 Desktop build used to be sluggish when editing big layouts, but it seems to be fixed now. I tested on a big project (200 objects, 80 layouts, 4500 events) and I think it works even faster than C2.

  • Bought C3 yesterday, was scared at first seeing only a web version.

Is this somewhat limited compared to the web version? If not, this is the go to for me from now on.

    Thanks!

  • It's covered in the original post.

The desktop build has virtually identical features to accessing editor.construct.net in the browser. The list of features only available in the desktop build is only the following:

  • Hi, just wanted to ask if it would be possible to provide fixed download links for the desktop releases?

Something like "http://editor.construct.net/beta/" for example, which automatically gives you the most recent release.

  • Yes pleeeease!

It is really annoying to basically start C3 twice every single time.

  • Any news on a Mac version of the desktop build?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
