  • Hi all,

Wanted to share that Sigmag and I got our first app in the Apple store. We also submitted to Tizen, so we'll see how that goes.

Not much to say other than we were complete noobs when we started and we've upgraded to just regular noobs now. So, if you're a noob reading this and wonder if you can get an app in the store....you can! We're extremely happy with C2, the community, and especially Ashley (and the Scirra team's) vision and commitment.

We're hoping to build on the AL series and open it up to Android using Crosswalk

  • Sigmag here. Educational apps might not be a primary focal point of most C2 developers, but it goes to show how flexible the engine can be.

Really happy to have our first product in the wild.

  • Hey, your app looks really polished. Good luck with the sales!

  • Thank you very much!

I took a peek at the Trambo facebook page. Looks pretty cool. Is there a demo I can play right now or do I need to wait until Jan 30th? :)

Also, going with my noob theme I mentioned above, how did you get a hyperlink in your signature? I tried using the URL code, but it showed all of the code in plain text when I tested it out.

    Thanks!

Thanks! There is no public demo at the moment - sorry about that! I originally intended to post a demo here, but being in the crunch mode for the last weeks has really taken it's toll and I had to drop the plans to manage to get the game ready... phew!

About the signature, try using BBcodes! Like this:

    [ URL = http://www. myWeb . com] My Link [ /URL ]

    ...without the spaces, of course.

  • Man, I know what crunch time means. May you keep your sanity!

Looks like I'm getting text only in my sig. I'm just going to leave it and look like a noob until someone tells me what is wrong about it :)

Thanks, the game is actually pretty much done... not sure about the sanity, tho!

Hmm, weird. I have it written as lower case, if that matters.

  • Lowercase did the trick!

  • Congrats! This is great! Educational (or children focused) apps are an area that I am interested in developing for. Is your app available on android yet? Quick question... what is the difference in the lite and full version of your app? Great work! <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Thank you! We were waiting to see how Crosswalk developed before publishing to Android, but I think we are going to go ahead and publish using CocoonJS within a month or so. We absolutely need the orientation lock and at the time Crosswalk was announced on these forums (5 weeks ago or so?) we tried an export and didn't see much of a performance difference. We know it is still improving and will ultimately be the better choice.

For our Lite version we only allow the very basic profile information to be saved (Name, grade, font). The meaningful stuff like Known Letters and Known Words is reserved for the paid version. In addition, assessments are not available in the Lite version. These assessments track a history of progress made by the child.

Thanks again for commenting and I wish you luck in creating your educational apps. Did you have something specific in mind?

  • You are so welcome! <img src="smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I am totally new to game development and come from an animation / graphic design background so naturally my ideas are very graphic based. I love the design and simplicity of the toca boca apps which aren't necessarily 100% educational but do have some teaching aspects to them.

Right now I have several concepts swirling around in my head and I am trying to decide which one to focus on and start developing.

Thank you for you kind reply and I wish you the best!

  • Wanted to update this post since we just updated both Early Literacy and Early Literacy Lite. Links are in the OP. We're in the App Store, Google Play, and will be in the Chrome Web Store as soon as the C2 export has been updated for the new CWS requirements (actually Early Literacy Lite is already up there).

We may look at the Windows app store as well before school starts up again.
