  • I'm looking for some feedback I converted the assets from my previous Butterball game into a fun 8bit platform game. I basically created the other game as a tech demo/Engine for a bigger game. It's been alot of hard work but I have 4 levels put together about 75%. I also Draw everything by hand using a Bamboo touch tablet and CS5.

    also since it's all 8bit it's sooo small I can definitely turn this into a mobile game.

    <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle">

    Up Arrow = Jump

    Left = Left

    Right = Right

    WASD = same as arrows

    Down Arrow = Sit (while in Car)

    *Mouse Aims Laser/Turret (Player in Car)

    Right Click (HOLD) Silver-bullet machine Gun

    Right Click / Space = Shotgun Fire (2 Shot)

    Shift / R = Reload (Shotgun) *unlimited Ammo for now

    Ctrl = swing Baseball Bat

    Mouse Scroll Down = Zoom out and shift screen

    Mouse Scroll Up = Normal zoom

  • I use a Bamboo touch tablet as well, gets the job done :)

    The game feels like a prequal to your other game, as it ends with you getting in the car. Multiple game modes for platformers are really nice. I think its an improvement - but you could take it to the next level by improving the art a little. (Things like shading in the trees etc).

    It would be great if you can get it working on mobile. Keep putting in the work - its starting to pay off.

    I posted the exact same time as you last night before I passed out lol.

  • This is not 8bit, and the sounds are really out of place. I mean, don't use sounds from one of the most popular games of the year

  • Try Construct 3

    "Sounds" plural I made every sound except the Zombies? They are from mine craft.

    as for sounds out of place Google Chrome has not been my freind in that regard.

    Thanks for the honesty I do have to add and rework alot of the sounds but right now it's last on my list.

    P.S and honestly I think i'd feel awkward grunting and moaning for those SFX lol

  • Kids nowadays call anything 8bits...

    8-bit color

    I'm being particularly nitpicky about this only because I love 8bit style graphics. Just check the game on my signature and you'll see ^^

    And yeah, by "sounds" I meant the zombies, they sound like they don't belong in this game.

    One other thing, the collisions could be simplified at some points, like on vertical walls. If you are too close to them, sometimes, you can't jump.

    Yes you are right there is a difference between 8-Bit Graphics and 8-Bit Style/Color. 8-Bit Graphics means your card can only render that and nothing more, and at very low resolution. 8-Bit Style is the same thing just to us, in this day and age, our computers render 16-64bit's of color at VERY high resolutions. So unless you deliberately make the game look like a mix between Atari and Nes your not 8-bit it's funny. If you could turn your resolution down to Nes and put your card in 8-bit mode I think you will see a HUGE difference. you have to remember WEBGL is a Graphics Driver it probably does some smoothing with low level AA.

    P.S I'm not the best at sounds, are you saying I shouldn't have zombies sounds all? What should I have, I'd like to know what you had in mind if possible.

    -Edit-

    I fixed my collisions thanks for the heads up some of my sideways blocks/Platforms were on an outward angle of just over 1.4 Degrees that was causing the issue.
