  • Hey guys whats up! So I've started work on my new game, Pixel Bear Adventure 2!!

    I've added a new mechanic, the ability to throw bombs! You can try a mini-demo below.

  • I really liked your first game. And it was enjoyable to destroy blocks in this demo haha Do you plan to add bosses? I think that's something I would have liked to see in the first one.

  • Looks pretty neat so far. One thing I noticed is that if you hold down the jump button and then release it after you land, you do a small hop. Not sure if this was intentional (and it's probably something you'll fix), but it made jumping in general feel a little clunky.

  • Hey this game is cool. Panda Master is a nice touch, those little details to the environment add a lot of interest I think, even if its just decoration.

    The original Pixel Bear Adventure is nice too. I see you have it on Android, you're not making any attempts to monetize tho?

    Are you making the artwork too (tilesets, sprites)?

  • More progress, now there are butterflies floating around, got the text working how I wanted it more or less, and stuff is unlocked one by one:

    Coins are a bit too bouncy, same goes for the rubble, going to fix that next as I continue working on it, hope you guys like it anyways

  • New version:

    • Pixel Bear can now throw bombs straight up and down, and in an arc
    • Coins have the ring sound effect from Sonic the Hedgehog, still serve no purpose to collect however
    • Sound effect for rubble breaking
    • Dialog box with text working as I want, pretty much final version

  • Big update:

    • Dialog fixed, new font
    • New tutorial level
    • New fox character giving basic instructions
    • Hidden areas that appear when walking through the walls

  • Couple of additional suggestions, if you weren't already planning on these:

    -I'd despawn the rubble after a few seconds. The game starts to lag up once you get a whole bunch of it on the screen (i.e. once you blow up all of the blocks).

    -Set a cooldown timer on the bombs (half a second between each, perhaps).

    Looking good otherwise. The hidden areas are a really nice touch.

  • Hi guys! Busy all weekend working on the game, here is a video.

    (Btw SNN135, I did give now the rubble a fade out time of 1 second after 10 seconds to reduce any lag)

  • nemezes Yep! He's gonna need those bombs for enemies which will appear after visiting the castle.

    guimaraf I've planned a lot of powers for the bear to unlock, a few include: Stronger limited bombs to blow up stronger walls, an item which lets Pixel Bear double jump, an item which can increase his running speed when a button is held down, bomb jump ability, and a Honey Potion which makes him temporarily invincible.

    If you guys have any ideas for power ups or abilities, especially items that are disposable and cost coins, let me know! I'm very open to new ideas and suggestions!
