  • Depends how it is made. Religion, philosophy, faith, morals, personal growth, all that can very well be used in games. There is nothing that says, it won't work. How to make it work is then a completely different question. The trailer specifically, the one you posted, did not spark much interest. Name also was clumsy. After the trailer I didn't really have any idea about the game...

If you'd share a bit more so I could actually give something valuable and specific, something actually constructive? From what I said, religion can work but from what I saw, this is not going to work too well but this is not a fair comment since I really haven't seen anything more than the trailer.

  • Spiritual games can work but I think they are more about the atmosphere than the gameplay which can make them boring.

Also did you make that music yourself, it sounds great!

  • I think there's definitely room in the market for spiritual games. When I think of "spiritual games" I think of games like "Gone Home" for some reason. A game that concentrates on story, feeling, emotion, atmosphere. I think it depends on the kind of main game play loop you create that will get people interested or not in your spiritual game.

Look at the game "Shiva". It's an adventure game where you control a Jewish Rabbi. The game play was a point and click and you would get into conversations with characters where you could choose your dialogue. I liked the game because I liked the Rabbi character. Both religious and spiritual.

  • I have a plot for a spiritual game..

I'm thinking in how to apply this, because i want to make using pixel art.. not exactly 8 bit, just pixel art..

    I want cut scenes.. etc..

Well, will not be easy, but the plot is good ^^

  • klabundee Sounds cool! What kind of game play do you imagine the game having? Would it play similar to any games out there?

I'm looking for something close to limbo, with pixel art.

With cutscenes to put the player into the plot.

Probably this game will demand a good time to be ready, I don't know pixel art and don't have time/money to focus on it now.
