40 Funky tanks PNG transparent in different colours - 2048x2048
  • This has been asked before, I looked at previous posts. But none of them have solved my problem. I imported a PNG file into Construct 2, and there is a white background behind my character. Is there a way to deal with this while in Construct 2 besides the Additive effect? That makes the blue on my character kind of transparent and the white doesn't even go away. In your answer, please don't suggest using a photo editing software because that isn't an option.

  • You should use a separate image editor which supports alpha transparency. MS Paint doesn't, but Paint.NET does, and it's free.

  • The problem is, they are images I am getting from someone else. Unless there is a way to just erase the white background that it comes with without making the fade around the character look like a white border that won't work.

You need to learn the basic's of image editing before you start making games!

  • I agree with the others that you need to understand the basics of image editing to make games, if for no other reason than you need to know what to as for when you have others make graphics for you and to make little tweeks when you get them.

Depending on how you came by the graphics, you may be able to ask to get them with a transparent background, or to get an alpha mask that you can use in image editor to remove the background. You may be able to get someone to make the changes for you, but it is a LOT easier if they have the original files.

  • Try Construct 3

  • It's actually pretty easy.

Click twice on your character on the layout to open the sprite editor, then you'll see the colors on the side. Notice the top big box that probably has either white or black in it. If you right click it you'll see set transparent as one of the choices. Select it then use the fill tool to fill all your white background with the transparency! It's much easier and you can use it while using Construct 2. :) Hope this helps.

  • Thanks a bunch! <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks helped me a lot

  • There is one problem. When you use Transparency filling, it only covers most of it. To fix it, Zoom carefully so it's more visible. This helps only for working with borrowing from others
