Tilemap: Getting rid of ugly edges?

On the Edge is a puzzle game where you have 40 levels to have fun with.
  • Hey,

How do you get rid of those ugly edge blurs on tiles? I'm using pixel art so I don't want things to get blurry. I've noticed that some of the tiles leave blurry looking edges and when you zoom in on a tile in C2 they look really blurry.

I'm using Tiled for TMX files and importing them into C2 where I construct the level.

Is there some sort of anti alias setting somewhere that I am missing?

  • Have you set point sampling up in the project settings?

  • Try Construct 3

  • Oh wow, thank a buuunch, mate.

    Fixed it completely!

  • Weird. I get some blinking lines in between the tiles sometimes when moving the character around. However, this does not happen for my other developer friend.

    Why is this?

edit: We seem to get different results when using the browser scaling. For my friend it lags sometimes, for me I get those lines. He also said the character "vibrates" when jumping sometimes in certain scaling.

What's the proper way of doing this?

  • Same as ever... letterbox integer scale, point sampling, pixel rounding. Any other settings and you're liable to get seams. (I swear I make this exact post every few days :P)

Didn't the tilemap object ask you to set those settings when you added it to the layout? Did you choose not to or something?

  • Eheheh.. sorry about that.

Neither of us even remembers if we even got a message like that. I don't recall it at all to be honest.

What we've done is that we made the TMX (a blank one) in Tiled. Dragged that bugger into C2 and constructed the level in C2 to test things out. We replaced the tilemap that comes with the program before switching out those to the ones we are using (the demo tiles used 32x32 tiles like we do). The seams also happened when I tried using the demo tiles.

Again, very sorry for repeating questions. We're new with C2 and this just really had us scratching in our beards.
