  • HELP!!! I've been working on my game for about 5 months and I'm still having trouble building a platformer... My apologizes in advance if I offend but, While all the tutorials for novice are quite insightful, they lack a lot of explaining of mechanics which I feel are vital to a good platformer game... If anyone who knows a lot about programming and game play mechanics(and of course how to utilize C2) please do me a HUGH favor and create a "Mega Man" like platformer tutorial... Complete with how to change sprite animations while attacking enemies(using bullet behavior no doubt),Jump attacking and a host of other mechanics... I mean you can even throw in how to create ladders for scrolling to new areas, etc... I would greatly appreciate any tutorial(or help for that matter... PM me PLZ!!!) to help me get further with my game... Thank you.

  • Adding a "player is using bullet" behavior to an updated version of C2 would be most useful in the future guys... No need for figuring out how to implement complex global and instance variables into the event sheets, then trying to figure out what order to arrange them on the sheet.

  • Complex, global and instance variables?

I made a megaman clone during my first few months using C2, I posted the .capx on the forums.

the event sheet was documented and talked about all the logic behind each event.

I appreciate you "sharing" your capx file with the community, but I'm going to pass on downloading it... No offense but I don't know you from Adam and I've always been leery about downloading things from the internet from "non-reputable" sites or individual parties... As I stated in my earlier post, If you could produce a tutorial(Think Ashley's "beginners guide")complete with step by step info and maybe even some visuals(JPEGs)to aid with the teaching? Hopefully this isn't too much to ask for...

  • CEO Dropbox is hardly non-reputable. A capx is not going introduce malware into your system. You are being way too paranoid.

I have downloaded the megaman capx and it is a great and wonderful that BACLog made it available. I would say that asking someone to make a tutorial is a big ask. Time to get in a learn from the examples available.

    This is a joke, surely.

If you really are serious, I would advise you now to switch off your PC, lock the doors and get under your bed as soon as possible.

I decided to download the capx after all... Wow... And it's still not finished huh? smh... I think I'm going to rethink this "mega man" esque platform game. I may try it one day though, just not right now

Look, no one is going to make the game for you, neither will they create a tutorial to cater to you.

I created that capx as a means of teaching myself how to use construct.

Making a megaman clone is not hard or complex.

The tutorials and guides that others have made are stepping stones to teach you certain skills or aspects of the program.

Try following some of them and building small test games before you decide to create your game.

you come off as very self entitled and I for one feel no need to help you any further.

that capx I posted should more then get you on your way to making a megaman game. I am not and will not create a game for you. It covers the basics of a megaman styled game.

    the audacity of some people.

..... Yeah ease up off the "internet bully" routine buddy... I made a comment referring to the scope of the project... Not "asking" you to "make a game" for me... So calm down, breath, and step down off the proverbial "soap box" if you would so kindly, sir... I never once asked, in this post, for (...wait for it)@BACLog said: "Look, no one is going to make the game for you, neither will they create a tutorial to cater to you." Did I ask you that? No.... I don't think I did. So now that portion is squared away; BACLog also said: "you come off as very self entitled and I for one feel no need to help you any further." Honestly, I think you had a "bad day" today or something of the sort... Honestly, I could care less if you didn't "post another mega man capx" in "my honor" LMFAO! I don't understand "internet bullies"... You have NO CLUE what my intentions are, nor what my motivation is yet you make "assumptions"... You should try asking questions before you go assuming "Oh this guy just wants a free ride" and then go all Dennis Miller "rant" crazy on the forum... Again, thanks for the reply to my original post, but I rather not hear from you in the future "lad"...

  • CEO your latest response is rather uncalled for. There is no need for that kind of reaction.

BACLog posting a documented game was probably the best you were going to get. Asking for someone to make a game tutorial exactly to your specifications for free is kind of ridiculous. These people make tutorials in their own free time. If you want someone to teach you, go take a class. Pay someone to make a tutorial. Getting upset because some random person on the internet won't do it for free makes you seem like a certain kind of person.

I respect your "opinion" in the assessment of this post, but I'm not "upset" at all... Get a life and stop "trolling" dude... I stand by my post in it's original intention... I merely made a request for a "tutorial"... That's all. I didn't "ask anyone to make a game for me, or do anything of the sort"... There are a few tutorials on this site that cater to novice C2 users... With that said, any designer or programmer with a good grasp on what truly make a good(insert genre)game will understand that explaining every aspect of a function or feature would benefit most beginners... I can't stand when people have the attitude of "... well, if it's too hard for you, maybe you shouldn't be doing this..." towards someone who is trying to achieve a goal... 98% of people facing adversity of this nature will just quit and call it day... So yeah, something like this will "upset" me... Some random post or "troll" doesn't upset me... I get it, it's the nature of posting on public threads, on the internet... As for paying for a tutorial, I have no problems with that at all... I totally see your point that a lot of these individuals have more important things to do with free time. I get it. Was just making a request as stated in my original post(maybe you should read it). Anyway, You seem as if you like "assuming" as well... I guess I already "know" what type of person you are...

  • Wow, you certainly know how to bring the best out of people. I am glad you are the minority around here.
