Side to side is the one on the left, up and down is the one on the right.

It all has to do with the angle. To make it easy, just clone the sprite like in this example and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise

Another way is to give the platforms the SINE behaviour. Takes a little bit of trial and error to set the magnitude but I can usually get it within a couple of minutes. Looks a little nicer imo due to the easing in and out.

Just another alternative :)
