How do I mask and object with another object?

Is it possible to mask a sprite with another sprite? IE I have text scrolling across the screen and only want it visible in the bottom right corner in a box. Is it possible to mask out the scrolling text so it is only visible where the box is?

You are looking for blendmodes

There's a nice example shipped with C2 in the new project dialog.

You need the ticker on a new layer with "Force own texture" on, the box white, and the text above it in Z, and the blend mode set to "Source atop".

If you do "New" and search for blend, you will get the Blend demo, with all of the options.
