How do I Local Storage Keep High Score

I just found out that web storage is gone and I know how to do it with that, but I do not know how to set up local storage to keep high score.

Does anyone have a working step by step that is specifically for high score?

I have all the text set up, and the local storage I just need to know how to tell it when the high score is beat to log it in local storage and change the high score text to the highest score.
