What i try to do is explain what i want to myself. Start off small then build your way up. You can fake just about anything. If you can explain it to yourself then you can make it.
The Bullet action is a good start for things to move downwards. You then need a condition to check to see if the player hit the right note. You can fake it multiple ways. Make games based on what you know.
If you get stuck move on to another project that is less demanding. Start small.
