How do I Explode apple when hit

Hello, when i hit apple with knife , i would need the apple to explode into pieces. How would you do it? Thank you

Thank you, but my question wasnt clear enough, sorry. I would need the apple to explode into pieces, and the chunks will fall on the floor using physics. So i guess i have to make several pieces or any other solution.
