  • Hi,

All my games stopped playing sound in Chrome, it's still working fine on Internet Explorer though...

I can see the sounds playing in debug mode in the audio properties, but yet, no sound at all..

Anyone else having this problem ? What could be causing this ?

My Chrome version is: Version 66.0.3359.139 (Build officiel) (64 bits) - looks like there was a recent update ? Might be related ? Also I did not installed anything particular on chrome recently.

Also my construct 2 is outdated, i'm still using R250 since it's working fine for me (until now..?)

  • Well, the first step is to try the latest version of C2.

  • Same thing happens for me when I preview my game in Chrome. The audio start playing normally only when I press F5 to refresh the page.

When I don't have audio and check the Audio tab in the debugger, I can see that the audio files are still playing but they don't disappear once they're finished and keep stacking up instead.

  • Yes, I have the same problem, and I'm using the latest version of C2. None of my projects have sound in Chrome, although they did a few days ago. I also tried them in Chrome on two other peoples' computers--and there was no sound there either. I did what Ryogo suggested, pressed F5. Sure enough, the sound came back. When I refreshed the pages without pressing F5, however, the sound disappeared again. Seems like something changed in Chrome because of an update?

  • Just tried the projects in Firefox, Opera and Edge. Audio works fine in all of them.

  • Yes, me too. Suddenly no sound in Chrome. It works in the latest Chrome BETA though.

  • Please be specific about which version you're testing. We did make a change in the latest beta to adjust when autoplayed audio and video can start. It should be working in r257+.

  • I'm not sure, but I think this might be the problem--a new autoplay sound policy and setup on Chrome. I found one of these links in an html5 game dev site, where people are also complaining about their html5 games having no sound in Chrome:

  • Yes, that's exactly what we addressed in r257.

  • Oops, sorry, I have to check my version of Construct 2; I thought I had the latest....

  • I upgraded my account from version 252 to 257, but when I went to test some projects, they were bugged and everything messed up ... What was really changed in this version?

  • I have the same problem. I had sound a few days ago and now nothing. I upgraded to version 257.3 (originally on Version 250 when sound was working fine and then dropped out so tried upgrade) and still no sound. I have reinstalled chrome with no success. The sound works in Edge and internet explorer.

  • Hello

I also have the same problem, I'm using contruct 2 version 255 steam, I did not find a higher version on steam.

  • davi9411 You'll find it below as a beta release. I haven't upgraded to it yet myself, but I did find that autoplay sound does work in Chrome if you play your game through an iframe, which is allowed according to Google's new policy.

Edit: Autoplay sound worked in iframes until about half an hour ago. To get the iframe to automatically play sound, you have to add

allow="autoplay"[/code:1ltfq9yt] to your iframe script. Or you can just upgrade to version r257....

  • Sound works in Chrome with R258 but I have to press a key/mouse button to make it start.
