Searching is a game where you are challenged to find all the images with the requested letter in 30 seconds.
  • Recently I decided to work on a kinda large game title (an rpg) using construct 2, and realized that the generic coding on the event sheet could get a little bit messy.

You can see my progress in this link:

Would it be possible to implement a search function for construct 2 similar to jCreator. I believe all browsers have this function also. A search function where you would press ctrl+f and the program would either highlight every word similar the requested word or scroll down or up towards nearest word?

I figure I could remember each line of code by using comments and groups but even so, having a search function would be really nice. Think you could do it?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • You mean different than the search that is already in C2?

  • Yeah the search is already there, it's just in the ribbon. If you're like me, you keep the ribbon hidden. You can fiddle around to get that search bar into the toolbar at the top-left so you don't need the ribbon visible. :P

Can't remember who explained it on this forums, but whomever it was, thanks!

Thanks for pointing that out! Darn I didn't even realize C2 had a search function... Now I feel stupid for asking the question in the first place. I was hoping for a more different approach to the search function, but this will still work.

    This post can be deleted.

  • Although there is a search function, a highlighter would really make things easier to find. Also, to be able to find and replace would really be a great workflow time saver.

It's nice to see Ashley currently working on workflow helpers such as the new debugger. It would be really great if he developed the search function a little more.

retrodude I second your original request despite your offer to retract your post!

I'd like to have that feature as well but the developers already have more important things to add. I think the generic search function works pretty good. It would be a nice touch though. However, its not as important as the other things on their to-do list <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
