I think your safest bet would be to pre-render models and then include them in the game according to your needs. Of course it immensely depends on the amount of interactivity you want your rotating object to have.
Plus I am still new on this, but I am considering on using some "3D" in my game, but will do so using pre-renders rather than trying to include actual objects in my engine, so I thought I could share my bits on the matter.
