Possible Audio Bug

Steps to reproduce:

1. Click on sprite

Observed result:

The click sound plays but the music volume drops and slowly picks back up

Expected result:

The music volume to remain at the set volume

Browsers affected:

Chrome: yes

Node-Webkit: yes

Firefox: Seems to work ok.

IE10: No Music or sound at all.

Operating system & service pack:

Windows 7 64 bit

Construct 2 version:

149 Beta

The reason you test in other browsers is so they can narrow.don the search to a browser or to a certain behavior... You will get a fix quicker the more they can narrow down where to look for it.

Well as long as they test it in node or chrome using the supplied capx they will find it.

My point was more around the more testing we do before submitting the bug, the more information we include around the circumstances that it occurs, the quicker they can fix it as they don't have to spend the time looking around as much.

If you say it happens in all three browsers, they don't have to do as much initial testing across all the browsers and can focus on the issue itself.

Anyway, I didn't mean to sidetrack your report. Just trying to help :)

Can't reproduce on Chrome with Windows 8.1. Note some audio setups deliberately compress high-level input to prevent distortion. If any of your sounds are normalized to peak level, the playback system might kick in a compressor or limiter which would have the effect of making the background music sound quieter.

What about Windows 7 ? As stated above Firefox seems to work as expected but as i export to node thats not of much use. All the music and sound has been normalised before import.

Nope, can't reproduce on Firefox Nightly either. Your description exactly matches what a compressor/limiter would do to avoid distortion, especially if you have normalised your audio to peak level before import, so this is most likely not a Construct 2 bug.

Normalize your audio to less than peak level, or just play them at lower than 0 dB volume. Maybe -3 dB. Then you won't go past peak level and the limiter shouldn't need to kick in. The more sounds you play at once the lower you should set the volume. Or just trust the system limiter to do it's job, it's preventing distortion and it's a useful feature.
