7 Errors is a game where you have to find the 7 mistakes before time runs out. Can you find all 7? Have fun looking.
  • Problem Description

I hit Save after every change I make, for two hours of work. I close Construct. After a hour I get back to work, only to find Construct didn't save my work, and promptly crashes on me - AGAIN!

    Description of Capx

    My game.

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

I don't know! Anytime I change events, or leave Construct open, or want to preview my game, it crashes. Doesn't save my progress, either. I'm really thinking of abandoning Construct at this point because this is ridiculous. How can I be sure my work will be saved the next time?

    Observed Result

Error window pops up when I want to preview the game, change events, or just Construct open. Then Construct crashes.

    Construct doesn't save, either.

    Expected Result

No errors or crashes, and Construct saving.

    Affected Browsers

    FireFox

    Operating System and Service Pack

    Windows 7 Vista

    Construct 2 Version ID

    197 (64-bit)

  • Try Construct 3

  • I tested it here and the .capx is running fine.

Did it crash like that on older C2 versions also? How much RAM have you got?

What did happen here is that C2 took a while to load your game because there are like 20 tabs open at the same time...

  • No problems opening and previewing.

Agree that having all the event sheets etc open at once is an awful idea, and may be impacting on your system. Check your task manager for memory/cpu use etc. What is the GPU and GPU mem size?

  • I've been getting crashes on saves in r197 as well. There's no rhyme or reason to it, though I've noticed that if I save to an external hard drive that spins down when not in use it's more likely to occur.

If your having larger errors I'd suggest doing a full re-install - as in uninstall everything first, delete all leftover folders/files after uninstall, then install C2 and any 3rd-party add-ons, and try again.

    Yes, the last two versions.

What do you mean? Others have been experiencing error bugs and crashes as well.

    Here's my ram:

  • I'm afraid there is very little we can do without steps to reproduce. Your project appears to open and run just fine here, so there are no signs of any problems. Is there any more information you can give us?

  • I'm not sure. I updated the bug thread with info on how I get the error, though. What exactly is a javascript error, anyways?

  • There is nothing we can do unless you can provide more specific information about how the problem occurs. We can't debug an issue with reproduction steps like "work on a project for an hour and hope something happens", especially since debugging a problem often involves running through the steps several times. Please file a new report if you can find any more information about what it is that's really causing the problem.
