Grenade Sound Library contains: 135 sounds 50 grenade sounds and 85 surface sounds
  • I hope someone else can confirm this, as soon as an audio file is played (in chrome) I get frame rate jittering, it goes on even once the sound has stopped:

Link to .capx file (required! If link is blocked remove the http and www parts):

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15657176/AudioBug.capx

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Run capx above in Chrome (v. 32.0.1700.107)

    2. observe smoothness of my awesome code

    3. press mouse button to play the sound

    4. shed tears over the heartbreaking stuttering and jumpy framerate

    Observed result:

    Jittery animation of sprites

Head banging the keyboard while crying "why! why! why!"

    Expected result:

Sexy smooth animation and frame rate.

    Smiley face.

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: yes

    Firefox: ?

Internet Explorer: no - but the sound does not play (mouse click is detected)

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1

    Construct 2 version:

    v162 64bit

  • Tested this on Win7-64 and S2 R162 with Firefox (v28 something) and Chrome 32.0.1700.107 and can't see any slowdown. Frame rate keeps up and the balls change the size smoothly.

Only issue I have is that sound is anonyingly high pitch.. <img src="smileys/smiley29.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • My experience:

Firefox - sound only plays sometimes, often seems to skip / sounds distorted, framerates generally stable, with very small stutters at the moment the sounds start playing, but fine afterwards.

Chrome - framerates marginally lower than firefox, however sounds always play, don't sound distorted (but skip for short periods of time), playing them indeed causes a persistent drop in the framerate.

However i don't think that this is a problem in Scirra's part, but rather the RAM consumption / general performance of Chrome, therefore this should not be classified as a bug in C2.

  • Same as Joannak, no issue under windows 7 either in FF (27.0.1) or Chrome (32).

  • Thanks everyone for the replies.

Oh well, looks like it is more-or-less specific to me - I`ll see if I can get IE to work with the sound and, if not, try installing Firefox (bleugh!).

Shame, I really do prefer Chrome.

  • Can't reproduce, works fine here so closing as probably a Chrome issue or something to do with your system. IE doesn't play anything because you don't have a .m4a version of the sound.

  • Thanks again. I will try and fix it from Chorme/system settings, if I get any results I will post them here.

  • FYI - Chrome Updated to v.33.0.1750.117 and the issue has now gone away.
