I'm developing a mobile game and, every day, I need to test everything on a low-end device to be sure it responds correctly because what you test on the desktop works smoothly on the mobile device as well. What I have seen is that the game behavior is seriously impacted by other background applications that might run on the device and with which, apparently, I do not have control and of course, as you are confirming in your post, might be influenced by the power management system of the device.
