  • There is a good post here showing the kind of impressions and clicks you need to make decent money from ads.

http://appstoreninja.com/my-app-revenue-18-may-2014/ and also a post on the best ad networks http://appstoreninja.com/mobile-ad-networks-pay/

My own experience with iAds on iOS, is you earn about $1 to $1.50 per thousand impressions. (eCPM)

If you make a really addictive game, you never know... but the competition is massive in the stores.

  • I just has this exact problem, I'm going to try the net.yoik.cordova.plugins.screenorientation plugin

Never had this problem on Ejecta!

EDIT: OK, cranberry's screen orientation lock works fine. Nice.

    See here:

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I have the same warning.

It's down to the XDK build settings not stating "Standard Architectures", in the build settings. It's a problem for Intel to sort out as far as I can tell?

As long as you submit your IPA file for review before 1 Feb you are OK... after that, we are stuck...

  • It's basically the same as Google Play- use the Intel XDK to build a Crosswalk APK.

    Register here: https://developer.amazon.com/appsandservices/

Submit the APK to the automated Amazon App Test Service and it will tell you if you're OK to submit for review. https://developer.amazon.com/tya/dashboard.html

  • Apple will not allow your game on the store if there is an obvious trademark or IP infringement.

In theory, it's not a wise move as you are opening yourself up for legal action and damages if you infringe. However only big companies will enforce this as it's a waste of money for smaller developers to fight trivial IP infringements. Especially if your app is not causing any lost revenue to the IP owner.

It's still better to come up with something unique -you will also sleep better at night!

  • It's possible to do it running Mavericks in a Virtual Machine on a PC.

It's fairly involved set it up, and can be quite slow. You will need 8GB+ RAM or it will be too slow to be usable due to disk caching. an SSD will help. If you're just submitting a one off project, then this would be the cheapest method.

The cheapest Mac Mini is $499/€499/£399 for the 4GB version which will run Xcode OK. The entry level model is not RAM upgradable.

  • reinhardius That's excellent - looks very polished. I'm downloading now!

I still play 'Headless' - a fun game!

I wish you every success with Firewater.

    <edit>

Just noticed your support page is missing the game from dropdown menu. http://support.thumbspire.com/

  • Really useful info, thank you.

  • smartyangelanlee I have had the same message for all my Crosswalk Android apps... the take down notice is worrying.

Looks like this has been around since June according to this: http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20140605.txt

Has anyone actually had an app removed because of this?

How do we update? It must be up to Intel's server setup?

  • I have Game Center working with Ejecta on several games. It seems the Game Center function does not work at all with the simulator, you need to deploy to an actual device.

The device need to be registered as a development device with the correct provisioning profiles installed.

Make sure you are logged in to Game Center on the device as well, as this seems to help. Once the game starts, a soft authenticate will usually work, and the GC welcome notification should momentarily pop down from the top of the screen.

One thing to check is that the app has the GameCenter capability added to the info.plist. This is done automatically by Xcode if you click the GameCenter slider in the 'Capability' tab.

Of course you need to set up Game Center leaderboards in iTunes connect first, I guess you've already done that.

  • did you get many downloads on Fire TV compared to other platforms? I'm wondering if it's worth getting one +a kindle gamepad for development.

  • matrixreal Very good! How did you go about getting so many reviews?

I've used https://appreview.me/ before which was good for getting the minimum 5 reviews needed before a star rating will appear on the app store.
