  • Updated the game with music, for some reason, I had them toggled to disabled :)

  • Looking really good :)

  • Dave Hailwood Wow, thats great to hear. Good luck with your ventures with C2 and iOS! It works well on my iPhone 5 safari too, but with the added hardware acceleration from CocoonJS, it doesn't get the frequent jerking and lag :) I'll definitely have to test it on iPhone 4 and below though.

I'm glad that the unicorn game humoured you enough to win you over! Hahaha

  • Dave Hailwood Ah, it's not configured to work well on iPad 3s yet! It's designed for iPhone 5 resolution atm. Will make it work on all resolutions before a first release :) Thanks for the nice comments! The freezes probably won't occur once it's been wrapped up in CocoonJS, maybe I can contact you to test it on iPad 3 for me before releasing.

Whiteclaws I just realized, for some weird reason, the music isn't playing! Thanks for the comments! About the game being slow paced.. hmm, maybe with more enemies and faster speed progression, I could speed it up! Thanks!

Definitely enemy collisions need to be improved and sometimes things happen that don't make sense. I believe in this build, Cybo loses HP when his combo ends.

  • Any news on if the Socket.io behavior for the official releases will have these features in future though?

    Thanks for this plugin!

  • Hey everyone,

I'm here to announce a game I've worked on for awhile now, something for the iOS (and hopefully Android). You may know me from my previous work on the Scirra Arcade - "My Irrational Fear of Unicorns".

I have a kinky obsession with weird titles I'm afraid, so this game is titled..

To introduce the game, here's a brief description,

o Go Monkey Squad is a 2D Endless Run & Shoot game made for the iOS and touch screen devices. You play as four monkeys which you can switch between, each with unique powers and fighting styles. Rico the Ricochet bullet monkey, Kuno the Katana wielding female fighter, Malfozzo the level 9001 wizard and Cybo the monkey who can shoot lasers from his cyborg arms. Stringing together large combos is the goal of the game. Keep on playing to earn Bananas to unlock new hats which each give your monkey different bonuses and abilities.

Some things to note, the game is highly inspired by the success of the game "Punch Quest" by Rocket Cat games, and it is still under heavy development. So the shops are only working for Rico, and the game is obviously still too buggy for the iOS release, but I hope to get some good feedback here.

Take note, I've enabled keyboard controls for jump, so you can try that out. Also there are only two kinds of stages done at the moment.

No. 1 - 5 on your keyboards are cheat functions for testing purposes!

1 - Rico gets Max HP

2 - Kuno gets Max HP / Unlocks

3 - Malfozzo gets Max HP / Unlocks

    4 - Cybo gets MaxHP / Unlocks

5 - Gains 300 XP and Levels up

A big thanks to Scirra and CocoonJS for the great softwares that are making this game possible.

  • Hey, I'd just like to leave this message here as props to Scirra for really improving so much stuff since I last used it. I stopped working on projects during around r105, and with my latest project "Go Go Monkey Squad" which will soon be released on the iOS, the workflow of my game creation process is so much neater and more streamlined thanks to the many new features.

Mainly thank you for the Function feature they aided my entire game creation process, making repeated tasks become single ones and really speeding up creation of content such as enemies and handling all the deaths and damage taken etc. Really very impressed by this.

There are other features which really helped a lot, but this one took the cake. Others like turrets, path finding, the new node-webkit exporter and more.

Thank you Tom and Ashley, keep on making this engine better by the day.

  • boolean I mean it would be easy to get the data runtime, but I usually want to set up a huge database of say Items and stats on the items, and it gets really hard to edit these values through events when I don't get to visualize it. But that is useful :) Thank you!

  • It would be a very neat feature if we could edit our Array and Dictionary objects real-time (as in edit the default options) and maybe when you were tweaking it with events, you can preview the table.

  • JohnnySix That is really nice man. I love the controls, simple and original. Can't wait to see what you finally do with it. May I ask how the ground is being done? is it just an image?

  • I really like the tileset!

I'm just not too keen on that character art, to me it clashes a lot with the semi-realistic style you have going on with the in-game graphics.

I think this kind of rendering would give the whole graphics a good, consistent feel.

  • I would love to do this as well :)
