  • Awesome job!!!

  • I have selected to backup on my Dropbox folder.

Maybe the dropbox try to update the very first instant of the file existence to the dropbox server, while the C2 software is trying to write on it, so, it maybe do a conflict, where Dropbox and C2 are fighting for the preference and nobody can get access or the preference to write on it, I have no idea, it's just a theory.

The problem is very random, and didn't happen today.

  • Great stuff!

I suspect it's on the backup portion because it saved as well, but didn't the backup file, also, on the left bottom side of the window it's saying "Saving Backup" or something like this.

  • The game is not dead, I still working on it.

My will born on September, so, I have to hurry and finish it asap ^^

Today I did a huge work on the code to update it with the C2, since it changed a lot after September of 2012.

The game play appear to be flawless, and is compatible with Touch, Mouse and Keyboard.

My next goal is increase the tutorial with the fight system, them, the dialog system, them, the control system will earn a custom feature, where the player will can select any key to change the standard keyboard, and will have the opportunity to change the mouse buttons too, flipping the logic of its buttons.

After it, I'll start to draw the first episode, where you'll play inside a cave and will learn more about the game ambiance, it's critters, NPCs and the plot.

  • The interrupt-able jump was intentional, after the sandBOX I was working on a touching screen game, and missed to return it to the original settings on the sandBOX.

You can check the new sandBOX here, but this one will be release only after I finish the game behind this scene ^^

You may noticed, I used the template and made that character of this post: scirra.com/forum/forum_posts.asp

Next release of the old sandBOX I'll return the jumping to the original settings.

Thanks you, your support is really encouraging to keep this project better and flawless.

And thanks for the tip, it's very nice someone else saw how it work and returned a post to tell me, I appreciated.

    ----------------------------------------

I was testing my skills today.

Finally the Intro was finished and I'll have to deal with scenarios from now on.

Remembering the first character template, with 200+ frames, 20 complex poses and smooth transitions, after it, his pants, the trees, and now the scenarios. Make games is really fun and hard, I admire who try and finish their games, it's really admirable.

Stay tunned, I'll post my progresses here, when possible.

    Edited:

This Week I pretend release a post exclusively to Equilibrium here on the Community ^^

It's going well and The Alpha stages are missing only the talking system (WIP) and the HUD (WIP)

    Edited 23/03/2013:

Back to the Hobby, today I updated and polished the unfinished Tutorial.

After finished some incompatibility with the C2, since it changed a lot by the last I used it, the game is ready to go.

I'm currently working hard on the scenario to finish this first step of the tutorial.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Save

    2. Press F4 or F5

    3. Crash

    Observed result:

After saving, if you try to export the game or preview it, C2 will crash

    Expected result:

    Don't crash.

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: yes

    Firefox: yes

    Internet Explorer: yes

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 8 32 bits

    Construct 2 version:

        123.2

PS.: I think the problem is with Autobackup.

PS2.: The C2 stopped to work while saving the autobackup now, it's on the saving screen (when I pressed to save) have 25 minutes...

I managed the windows to create a DUMP file of the C2 processes:

    dl.dropbox.com/u/47035927/temp/Construct2.DMP

  • I'll be really honest... I have no idea of why the bug started to happen, before the beta update of today, the game was working flawless...

After the last Beta update, my project didn't start anymore and I have no idea of how to reproduce the problem in a clean file, but here is the screens of the errors:

    The page in localhost:50000 say:
    Javascript error!
Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier http:///localhost:50000/Platform_behavior.js, line 135 (col undefined)

This is either a bug in Construct 2 or a problem in a third party plugin or behavior please report it to the developer!

And after leaving the tab and going back:

  • You can, by checking if the player is not pressing any directional key, and them, check for a time elapsed, like 2 or 3 seconds, or an animation finished.

  • I did the same on Equilibrium. If you want play with transitions, you'll need to deal with situations like this.

I did it by my own way, doing triggers, where it play the first transition and then check a variable ON, this variable can only occur while the object is doing the while or after transition pose, if it change the pose, that trigger switch OFF, so, I advanced it by using a instance variable, where I did the name of the action, followed by what part of it the animation is, like "jump - being", so, the object will crouch a little bit and then jump, and the player can't avoid the jump.

What you have to do with your flying poses, for example, is a animation called by "being flying", then, when it finish, go to the flying animations, check the "flying being" instance variable as checked, so, when you turn the direction or anything else, it will not reproduce that animation again.

Also, I suggest you to make a debug of all your player variables on the screen, do it on a different code page, then import it, and on the start of this page, make the follow code:

    Is on Preview;

    Make it update every thick

    Write your debug on a text box;

I hope this helped you a little bit! =]

  • Hello,

As part of my learning, I was wondering to make complex machines like this one, to be a boss:

    [tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUO8C-lGBSE[/tube]

But first, I would like know if it's perfectly possible to be made using the C2 engine (the sample above was made on C1)

    Thank you!
