  • Hi guys,

    I know this may seem a little odd but here is an HTML 5 to flash converter. The only reason I bring this up is that you if you want to sell your game to mindjolt or any other site like that you have to have a flash game. I have personally run into some problems where some sites like this do not accept HTML 5 games at the moment. I know that HTML 5 is the future but right now the infrastructure is set up around flash. Even Unity3D is coming out with a flash export.

    So I found this nifty little site that converts HTML 5 to flash

    Personally this is a great solution if you want to make flash games right now. Let's try out our games and see if we can make this service work for C2.

  • mammoth thanks. I'm not sure the max size chrome will take, but it is at least 17.1MB I think that was the largest version I had on there.

    That's good. Honestly for casual games 20 MB is more than enough. The only time I have had a problem with space is when I make rhythm games. Sounds can be big. Luckily C2 has solved this problem.

    And yes Appmobi's fees are completely reasonable IMO

  • Ashley the upload size for chrome is higher than 10MB(my game hosted there is 16MB).

    Shut the front door! I wanted them to up the game size. All we need is IGP and we are set for the chrome store!

  • Well nobody is forcing you to go this route. Typically game development has been expensive and it is still expensive.

    How about you pay the 100 dollars a year, release 5 great games make some money and then you once you are rolling in cash you can easily pay the the other 100 dollars.

    Instead of thinking that appMobi is a predator trying to steal your money, try and see them as an enabler to your success. You want to make as many friends as you can in this world it's small and word gets around fast.

    Yes. It is extremely risky to do what appMobi does. If you want to make money you have to spend money 200 dollars is not a lot of money to start a business. The average cost to start a business about 10 - 15k. Most of the indie developers I know have spent that much on their business   to get it up and going. Game salad used to be 2k a year and is now 5k a year. Plus 6 games 200 dollars i

    AppMobi has to pay the bills and you can't do that by undercharging for the service. Unless you do not live in a first world country, 33 dollars an app is really not that much. People spend more money when they go to the bar.

    Again if your goal is to make money you simply have to spend money to make money. If your goal is to make awesome games for everybody. You can get a website and upload your game there.

  • I know how important lighting is to an artist. But the isometric game would be better built within a 3D game engine. It would be hard to make that kind of game within a 2D game.

    As for the other example yeah it's a cool feature you can actually fake it quite easily. Just go into photoshop and make the screen you want and when you are in C2 just attach it to the player. It isn't perfect but I have seen some games that do this.

  • For free to play online games you want something ideally less than 5 mb 10 at the most. The reason is that people want to play the game now and load times will make your game less attractive.

    For mobile you get 20 mb. The reason is that most carriers won't let you download games over 20mb.

    Generally, it is good to have games less than 20mb.

  • Again I will say that if you want to publish apps to the app store it is best you get a mac. Signing your app is actually a fairly in depth process, you don't just simply upload you app to apple. You have to download certificates, developer profiles and more.

    For me I just bought the mac. There might be a way to partition your hard drive and run OSX on it. But at the end of the day you will be spending a lot of time on it and it might be more worth while to get a mac.

  • I think you can do it with phone gap. Although, I generally find that working with apple means you have to have an apple to make it work. I bought a mac mini last year and I haven't looked back.
