  • Hello All,

When I am here in Botswana, I have poor slow internet which makes things very difficult. Also Construct 3 needs internet to work online.

However, there is an offline option too, which makes that when you have no internet, you still can use Construct 3. For this to work, you need to make sure that the offline version is downloaded to your local disk. This you can do with the combination "CTRL" + "F5". After a while you see in the left bottom corner a message in a blue dialog that the offline version is downloaded. This is very important, always make sure you have the offline version downloaded.

When your internet is poor or slow, Construct 3 seems to load forever. You can wait, wait, wait and keep waiting. Now before you start Construct 3, just disable or disconnect your internet. Then start Construct 3 the normal way you always do.

Bingo!!! Now Construct 3 loads from your local disk and you can continue exciting game development.

  • Regretfully pointing to the arcade from your own website, your link is blocked by MalwareBytes because of a possible unwanted program (PUP).

While your game and website is perfectly valid, MalwareBytes seems to think the forward is suspicious.

I contacted MalwareBytes support several times about blocking perfect legal websites, but there are no willing to do something about it. However, a user can always exclude it from the quarantaine list. However, many surfers panic by seeing such a message.

I am no fan of Wix either. Too limited in my opinion.

  • I took some Affinity Designer courses and in fact they where very good.

I find teachers like Brian Jackson, Dawid Tuminski, Daniel Evans and Ronny McBride very good. I bought graphic courses from all of them.

Also Jeremy Esteban is a very good teacher. John Bura, Greg Pugh courses about Construct are also excellent.

There is a lot of choice on Udemy. You always find an interesting course.

  • Indeed, Udemy is a very good learning platform. There are many excellent courses about Construct 2 / 3.

Personally I like "Make a space pinball game" and the "Fish Frenzie" courses very much.

What them also make a bargain is the fact that those Construct 2 lectures also can be used with Construct 3.

  • Hello Laurence,

Thank you very much, I will check the plugin section on the Construct 3 forum.

Your help is very much appreciated.

    Chris

  • Thank you very much for your reply Laurence and your suggestions. Very usefull information.

I cannot find the necessary plugins from RexRainbow any longer. When I click on the links, they lead me into oblivion. Also will those plugins work with Construct 3? I do not have any problem with following C2 tutorials in Construct 3. But I do not know anything if those C2 plugins will work in C3.

    Have a nice day.

  • I played your Rotate game again. But I can only access one room. When I take the boxing ball, the screen get black and I only hear the music.

Is this normal behaviour. After a while MalewareBytes reported to me that it blocked a "thumb" icon. It is a very annoying behaviour of MalwareBytes. Can this be the cause of the black screen?

Thank you for your nice game, like I have said two months ago, it has very good potential. When there are more levels, I will like to play your game very much.

  • Hello everyone,

I am searching for a good board game tutorial but does not find one. It does not matter if the tutorial is for C2 or C3. Regretfully the list of tutorials on the C2 section is so extensive that I cannot find any.

Please, can you point me to a good board game creation tutorial for Construct?

Thank you very much in advance, your help will be very much appreciated.

  • I am using Google Drive to save my projects. When saving it takes a little more time but I did not exprienced problems. None of my projects where ever corrupted or damaged.

However, here I have a high speed DSL connection. In Botswana I have very poor and slow internet. I will ask my wife in Botswana to open and safe a "dummy" project created from my largest project. If that is going fine, I think you will be safe. Our internet in Botswana is really poor.

When I was in Botswana back in June, I had no problems at all using Construct 3 despite the poor internet. It seems Construct 3 does not put heavy loads on the internet connection.

One of my main problem is that whatever I do, I cannot use the offline version. It simply does not reload (pressing CTRL + F5) anymore and seem to be gone after closing Construct 3. But it will be solved in the future with the standalone version which is fine for me.

  • I am using Construct 3 since it first was released. I do not do professional game development on this moment. However, I am following Construct 2 tutorials (in Construct 3) and I did not came across any showstopping bugs.

During the last 2 months, I cannot remember any crashes anymore. On this moment, I can honestly say that I am glad I start using Construct 3 and never looked back to Construct 2. I opened Construct 2, just to keep it up to date but that is all.

For users coming from Construct 2 or who are not used to Cloud computing, saving can be somewhat a problem. In Construct 2 you save your projects onto your local disk together with its assets. That is not really possible with Construct 3. When you are serious, you need to save to the cloud. You can only save your project file to the cloud, not your assets. To keep the full project organised, I create a directory for the full project. Then I store my project file into that directory and create an assets directory where I copy all assets (images, sprites, sound, music, ...) into. In this way the assets keep together with the project. However, you actually link your assets from the local disk. So it is important to synchronise the two. I am using GoogleDrive. Saving to the cloud is easy once you know how to do it. Also when your local disk crashes, you still have your work.

I find it an advantage, using Construct 3 since its initial release because in all those months, I accumulated a lot of new knowledge and got used to it. The free edition is very limited, so it is better to use a subscription so you can use the full product.

If you do not like the browser feeling, you can let it run from your desktop without the browser look and feel. Most of the times I do that, especially when working on my own projects. When following Udemy courses, it is much more handy to run it on its separate browser tab.

Construct 2 is the past, Construct 3 is the future.

  • Welcome in the Scirra Community!

Maybe you should read a good Construct 3 tutorial first.

Search at for "Construct 3 - The Complete Game Creation Learning Course" created by Mihai Morosanu (Paala on the Scirra forum). This is the best course on this moment about Construct 3 which will teach you a lot of knowledge. Also the author share 3 games with his students.

    Hope this helps.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Like I have said before, this is a great course and very much value for money.

It is indeed the only Construct 3 course class which is very extensive. Now 3 months after the initial release, C3 improved very much.

This course will surely put you in the right direction with Construct 3.
