Scope variable & copying from a capx to a folder project

I was trying to incorporate Rojohound's spritefont example (http://www.scirra.com/forum/suggestionsprite-font_topic44315_post277634.html) to my current project. (having both the capx and the folder project opened side by side in C2)

I renamed the Sprite and Text objects from rojo's capx to match the norm of my project. Copied the objects to the current layout, placed them, no problem.

I tried to take all elements from rojo's events sheet and copy them to my project's events sheet (as sub event of a group), that was denied.

Then I go and make blank sub events and copy event by event.

This worked until I tried to copy event N?4. That was denied.

I tried to reach its value (Double clicking the action in rojo's capx still) then I have a Vc++ library crash window telling me there's a runtime error. When validating, C2 quits.

Prior to renaming and starting to copy, I could double clicked the action and have access to the value, as usual.

I'm not sure if it isn't already a known issue. In doubt, I prefered reporting it.

  • When you see such posts (spam, flood, inadequate), click "Post options" and "Report Post" and don't answer it.

And concerning your message, this is irrelevant to this thread. Consider posting in the "Open topics" or "Website" section of the forum.

At last, even when such "spam invades" occur, a moderator and/or admin always end up getting on the forum and clean it. It is just a matter of time and it gets taken care of.

  • Hi, I agree with you. My suggestion is Game Constructor.

    <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />     <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Lame suggestion. Why not calling it Game Maker HTML5 while you're at it ?

Plus it restricts to game making, whereas CC and C2 can make applications.

    Please marketboy, stop it already.

It is not a name change that is required, just a little more attention from the user (To check if he is in CC's forum section or C2's section).

Moreover, a little tweak of the css display (using different colors, close, but noticeably different) could help avoiding the "confusion".

Anyway, it is too late to change the name (your parents didn't switch your name 9 months after you were born, right ?)

  • You can always set the 8dir behavior's angle in the properties to no.

It doesn't rotate and probably will look less odd to you.

  • Please, use DropBox (quicker, simpler, if you want to upload exported projects you don't need to zip them).

Also to make a capx, in C2 look into the menu - save as single file.

An exported project, as you provided, can't allow to check effectively if there's a bug or a logic error.

  • PathFinder has no automated movement. 8dir has, sort of.

    Automated Movement.capx

To restrict Y movement in this cap simply disable the conditions testing Y.

Also "such a common control interface" relies so much on what the dev wants (expect for his gameplay), that for it to be fully customizable, it is better if the dev does it himself.

(Or also what Shinkan said, ninja'd)

HTML5 is javascript based, not java.

There's no pixel manipulation available in javascript.

  • R55 has a audio plugin in. (in the folder exporters\html5\plugins\audio)

Check if you have this folder in your installation and if it contains files.

Maybe your dld was corrupted and the audio plugin was lost in the process.

If files seems ok and are present you should describe a bit more precisely what you mean by "It's gone".

Are you getting error message when loading the capx ?

What version the capx were saved in ?

Be more specific than just "it's gone".

  • I guess Firefox gets confused about mouse clicks when it shows an alert in response to a click.

Strange thing is that if you disable the actions dealing with variables, it behaves as expected. (a single display)

Expected: The alert should only appear once.

Happening: Every tick it seems the "left click on object" event is triggered and the alert is displayed.

  • You should test for collision between your "mob" sprite and either the wall or your "blocker".

When there is a collision, set mob acceleration and speed (bullet behavior actions) to 0, and so the mob will stop.

In this configuration, the solid behavior is useless, and you can remove it from the blockers.

From there you can choose what to do with your mob. You can, for example change its angle, and make it look like it "bounces" from the wall.
