Can you expand a little on what the limits your referring to are?

I mean the problems that many of the more serious devs have faced when trying to port to consoles. And also some issues with performance. Let's look at the Constructs showcase site: Next Penelope dev switched to unity, AirScape dev had major issues with performance, Coin-Op story dev is in radio silence, Mortar Melon dev swiched to unity, Dev of Battle Princess Madelyn switched to unity due performance and export options, just to name few. If there wasn't any issues why would they have left?

By continuing with C3 I just have to accept the fact that C3 export isn't optimal for anything except web.

I would like to be able to export to raspberry pi, switch, ps4.

Basically my issue isn't the price. It's the time. In short term I can make the most with Construct2/3 but the Constructs limits will eventually limit my possibilities. Money I have, but not that much time. So there for I need to make the decision where I put my time. In long term something more versatile will pay off... but it's so fun to use Construct. By continuing to use Construct I just have to accept the fact that It's just a hobby...

I'm still on a fence whether I subscribe or not. I really like C3 but I don't like the subscription model and the poor export options. I might just invest that same money in a professional tutorial for another game engine, like this... And that's kind of future proof path.

  • Havok I also think that it's important to be x86 based system. Other mobile processors are definitely uncertain. Don't know about the gpu though...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Game development isn't very convenient with phone or tablet, but It might work with that kind of tiny laptop.. I'd prefer something that fits in to pocket... I have new xps15 with touch screen, but I don't carry it with me...

tunepunk thanks for the tip. Maybe surface is mobile enough.

  • Could this "pocket-pc" be powerful enough for Construct3

    GPD Pocket

It would be nice to be able to make games where ever and when ever...

  • There's an event sheet plugin for Unity if you're interested. It's pretty affordable too.

    GameFlow

    ---------------

I tried the GameFlow when it was just released, but it didn't come anywhere close to C2 regarding the work flow and usability. It was quite long time ago and maybe it deserves another shot. At least the export options are superior compared to C2/C3

  • I have to admit that Construct3 is really well done and there is a huge potential in this kind of web applications. Scirra is obviously ahead of its time with their approach and I believe that it will pay off eventually.

It's a real pleasure to work with C3 but the export options are kind of a deal breaker. At the moment the subscription model isn't justified, but if in the future the export options will really cover mobile, consoles and pc, I will happily pay the price.

Sorry to say, but I'm not going to subscribe to C3. If one time payment option comes up, I might buy it. Subscription model doesn't fit my needs when the program doesn't fill my commercial needs. If Construct 3 could make native apps the price would be more acceptable.

There are lots of great games made with fusion:

    Edit. Too slow

I think this would be really fair pricing system.

  • Actually it seems like it started to work. So never mind my previous post...
