Powers will be coming with new version, am totally happy to mod the forum to include them if they are not extensive enough as well :)
By the way, I really have seen myself a HUGE drop in spam, a total of 2 spammers I've banned so far, on the old site it was around 2-3 a day I was deleting some times.
I see in the logs the bot scripts are still trying to attack the old URLs so it might just be a matter of time until they adjust, but generally, pretty good round here imo!
I also have a few things I'll be installing on the registration/login pages to block a lot of them, got lots of tricks up my sleeve, but generally, I'm very pleased at the lack of spam.
