  • [quote:3ds896qa]Other than that from the glimpse of it so far I can only say why just Chrome? I use Opera and Firefox and it does not operate on either of these. Also I updated Chrome on my phone but this only goes to version 56 so I could not run it on that either

Thanks for the feedback! Chrome only for now as it's the only browser that supports all the advanced features we're using (nearly) out the box. If you load it in FF or Opera, it will show you what specific features the browser is missing exactly.

We don't see any reason why other browsers wont be able to support it in the future. Hopefully not too distant!

  • [quote:3tvxw3nj] I like the new layout and design.

Paulo's done an excellent job of it!

[quote:3tvxw3nj]The sub-menus have a strange feeling with so much empty space between the options (I'm talking about hovering over them and seeing their white background). It gives a "work in progress" feeling for me.

I didn't spend as much time implementing the finer details of Paulo's design as I'm sure he would of liked me to, there is a lot of touching up to do. It will improve.

[quote:3tvxw3nj]The server is down quite frequently. I guess that's understandable now, but still.

Seems fine to me so far, but you're not the only one reporting. Can you give more details? Is it the 521 error?

Good catch, fixed for next upload.

[quote:3tvxw3nj]On this page: https://www.construct.net/hu/make-games/new-features-1 the sentence "You can also see lists of" ends suddenly, missing it's final words.

Good catch again, fixed for next upload.

[quote:3tvxw3nj]On this page (and several others): https://www.construct.net/hu/make-games/showcase at the bottom it sais: "..then buy it to unlock all the powerful features". I think it would be better as: "..or buy it to unlock all the powerful features". The current sentence feels like it's forcing users to buy the product.

Yeah it's just marketing speak, it all needs going over carefully. Not changing for now, but may change a lot in coming weeks.

Thanks for all the website feedback, it's much appreciated!

  • I get what you're saying, but the reason it's tied down to free edition is because dealing with the bugs is 100x easier.

Our #1 goal here in the beta is not to give free access to the product so people can get an appetite for it, it's to make the best product we can. We always try and make the best quality stuff we can and this is part of the process we need to go through to arrive there.

I see the argument for finding more bugs by making it more of an attractive free offering but it's not a problem we anticipate having, we'll be plenty busy over next several weeks

Sorry for misunderstanding, obviously busy now trying to read everything!

  • Sebastien, thank you for your comments they are appreciated and I understand your point of view. It's is a radical change, and we know some people will not be comfortable with it (at least at first). Hopefully the desktop build will be more suited to you.

  • The goal is to stamp out as many bugs as possible before we start selling it - we think people would be more upset buying buggy software.

Ah got you now. We don't see why Construct 3 wouldn't work in all future versions of Chrome - onwards from 57. Also, offline desktop builds will solve the issue you're talking about I believe.

  • It's a beta test. We're expecting lots of bugs. When someone sends us a bug from a huge game, it's insanely time consuming to try and reduce the project to the root cause. Keeping it feature restricted will help us fix more bugs faster.

Also, we are going to be unlocking all features in the final week for the game jam when everything is a lot more stable.

Understand you want to get your hands on everything, but we don't think it's the right choice at this stage.

  • No comparison chart yet, but on the to-do list! For now, here's a list of what's new:

    https://www.construct.net/make-games/new-features

Doesn't say what available in the free edition yet though I'm afraid.

Unfortunately there are some features we're using that simply would take far far too long to refactor. For example, CSS grids are a new browser feature we use for the entire layout of the editor. Grids are designed specifically for this usage in mind, and if we wanted to make it an optional feature we'd end up with div soup.

I understand your point entirely, but there was a tradeoff here, supporting organisations/users with older browsers, or reduced development time and easier maintenance. Historically we've always gone for #2.

    > Are you one version behind on purpose? You can easily update it unless you're worried about breaking something.

I have several computers, some are managed, meaning they cannot be updated to the main version until they pass strict testing controls. Often, this means they are 10, even 20 updates behind. 99% of the time, they are not on the latest version, unless there was a huge critical security flaw that needs patching.

If C3 cannot be used on older chrome versions, with no bypass option, this is a huge oversight. I find it hard to believe they would eliminate the corporate world from using C3...I will wait for feedback. I suspect this is just a beta thing, because there is a warning message that implies you can still use it. The ability to however, is not turned on it seems.

Construct 3 is built for now and the future, using bleeding edge features.

I would also argue that an organisation not allowing updates to browser is a pretty backwards security policy. Unfortunately you'll have to wait for them to allow updates.

There is a bug in Chrome detection, try clicking "Launch Anyway" if you are up to date.

  • We've reduced the free edition limits in C3 from C2. Our numbers were showing not enough C2 users were converting to paying customers so we're making an adjustment here.

  • What aspects of the usage specifically are you not enjoying? It's important for us to find out to see if we can improve it. Is it just the fact it's in the browser, or anything specific?
