  • And wht about construct.net/en/make-games/addons/244/greengrinds and construct.net/en/make-games/addons/84/greenworks plugins ?

First time seeing Greengrinds so I can't say much for that one. It's currently Construct 3 only as well. The Construct 2/3 Steam plugins are identical as far as I can tell (both running on NWjs 0.33.3).

Technically speaking, that version is actually fine and supports things like gamepad rumble. It won't support any new features starting from Chromium M70+ though.

(Issue requesting support for newer versions, upvotes and comments appreciated!)

  • Hello, the official steamworks plugin seems abandoned (12 months without updating).

Does anyone know what the situation is ?.

As far as I know the official plugin heavily relies on a 3rd party developer. Judging by their releases, there hasn't been much happening so Scirra can't really update it. Usually I would recommend the paid Steam4C2 plugin but that is abandoned by the developer as well. I guess Steam game developers have to deal with the current situation and use an outdated version of NWjs.

Not much else can be done about it. NWjs (desktop platform) simply doesn't receive as much love from Scirra, like any of the mobile platforms do right now.

  • Good point on not listing them too high and having people not purchase. But also don't want to list too low and have buyers have a bad experience (negative reviews, refunds, etc).

A chance of that happening is very unlikely. You'd rather get reports/bad reviews by users with laptops having issues or content creators not being able to record or stream gameplay.

I also recommend checking out the Steam hardware survey, pretty useful.

  • The recommended specs for Windows are overkill. Keep in mind that information like that can result in customers thinking, that their setup isn't good enough for smooth gameplay (won't purchase).

As already mentioned, the specs will vary but this is what I'd go for on Windows systems:

    MINIMUM:

    OS: Windows 7 or newer

    Processor: Dual Core (2.0 GHZ)

    Memory: 2 GB RAM

Graphics: Dedicated graphics card with 512MB VRAM

    DirectX: Version 9.0c

    Storage: 900 MB available space

    RECOMMENDED:

    OS: Windows 7 or newer

    Processor: Quad Core (3.0 GHZ)

    Memory: 4 GB RAM

Graphics: Dedicated graphics card with 1024MB VRAM

    DirectX: Version 11+

    Storage: 900 MB available space

  • No new bugs in the recent releases as far as I know. (Fixed the broken direct links caused by this.)

The new window implementation is going live in NWjs 0.40 or 0.41. Now is the time to give it a go and get any remaining bugs fixed (?). The previous problems with fullscreen indicators are fixed.

If you're looking for new features, Construct 3 has a lot of those. I'll try to keep this updated if something interesting is happening in the future.

    Cheers!

  • On a different note. The download servers seem to be down right now.

Would appreciate someone from Scirra looking into this, if it isn't temporally.

  • With a market share like that, it's pretty much dead for normal consumers.

I expect the only reason for the patch was, so that servers which run on XP are secure. Some companies are either forced to or have a philosophy of not changing a running system.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Are you sure that those issues and my problem is the same?

This issue affects letterbox scaling so it will also affect this.

Maybe there is another bug specific to this which I don't know about but since you were cross-referencing multiple things, I assume the cause could be that issue.

Have you tried reproduction using other browsers that don't work on the Chromium engine?

  • That's a different issue that got fixed specifically for NW2 (new window implementation).

The issue with window dimensions still exists because the Chromium Team, despite multiple requests simply don't seem to care about this bug (Issue #1; Issue #2). There is a chance of the NWjs developers implementing a fix/workaround in NW2 but that's also out in the open right now.

To come to the point, you have to wait until this gets fixed or worked around.

  • I can see this feature being useful outside of the forums but inside, it seems kinda unnecessary.

I'd imagine most people that are interested in a topic just follow and/or email sub to it. So a suggestion specifically for the forums would be to save some time, by removing favorites here and add a page like YouTube has, which lists all of the topics that you have followed or are subbed to.

  • I've been looking around in the forum and several account related pages but I couldn't find anything, that's related to the "favorites" feature. I expected to find something like a list, similar to bookmarks in a browser but specific to the forums.

Did I look in the wrong places or does adding a topic to your "favorites" have no function yet?

Construct 2 shows an error message and closes itself when adding new ACE's, at the exact moment while saving a project. This issue could be the leading cause of crashes related to auto-saving, since there is a chance of an auto-save occurring at one of those exact moments.

Below is a way to brute force this crash by manually saving using the KB shortcut.

    Reproduction

    1. Create new Construct 2 project
    2. Save project to disk (capx or project folder doesn't matter)
    3. Open event sheet and add dummy event to enable saving
    4. Add an action by clicking "add action", while pressing CTRL+S at the same time (IMPORTANT: finish the process of adding an action!)
    5. Notice error message followed by a crash or Construct 2 straight up closing itself

Error Message Screenshot (add action + save)

    Version

Tested and could reproduce using Construct 2 r268 on Windows 7.

Construct 2 crashes when the right-click menu is being used in combination with a keyboard shortcut.

    Reproduction

    1. Create new Construct 2 project
    2. Right click event sheet or layout tab (might also work with other active right-click menus)
    3. While right-click menu open, press CTRL+W
    4. Notice crash (if not, repeat process multiple times)

    Version

Tested and could reproduce using Construct 2 r265+ on Windows 7.

I'm seeing a pattern of Windows 10 users with auto-saving enabled. Perhaps disabling auto-saving for a day, could be a good test to see if that's at fault.

Besides that it wouldn't surprise me if a Win10 update messed things up again. I'm on Win7 without any crashes, ran C2 for more than 24h and about 2h of active use.

Here is an issue to reliably reproduce a crash related to saving and potentially auto-saving, which people of this bug report seem to use.

  • Cannot reproduce greyed out tabs and Apphang/lock while importing in r268.

I guess this can also be closed now.
