  • Hi everybody! It's the fourth game i've maded using construct 2 and the more i know about construct the better the games become.

This one is near full version, a simple game but i think it has some details and everything works fine so i thought it could be a good idea to promote here.

    construct.net/en/free-online-games/coronavirus-vsworld-12957/play

Instructions are on screen tutorial, hope u like it!! and please some comments?

Game took near 2 months of developmente, most part of the time due to minor details.

  • I got a problem when uploading a new game... its the second time it happens.

First time i've uploaded my first C2 game everything was ok.. later created my second game and when i was going to upload there was no way to select the new game... the "upload files" was ticked... so finally decided to upload anyay.. then... the new uploaded game result to be my latest game... that's the problem... the quick solution was select "update game" then i was able to select the game and uploaded ok.

Today i'm gonna upload my third game and i got the same problem for the second time... i can't select the new game files... and the "upload files" is ticked.... i gues the solution is the same... upload anyway, then update the game with the real files...no really need help since there's a solution but I wonder if i'm doing something wrong... or anybody has the same issue...

  • Let's keep these forums new, fresh and interesting.

You didn't readed me or you don't care?

I told you i googled something like "drawing lives in C2" and this thread was on top results, that's fresh, i don't care older if there are no other threads related.

So yo don't like people posting in old threads to keep them interesting... instead you prefer to be here posting once and over and been annoying and get the thread full of your nonsenses...

Your contributtion to this thread is ZERO.

You didn't even make a post before i posted mine.

You basically are doing exactly the opposite of keeping "freeessshh and inteeeresssting" threads...

    Moderate yourself.

Post your questions, feelings and impressions in a new thread, that would be more helpful for everyone. I'm not a mod, but that's just common forum etiquette.

In my opinion posting in another thread is out of place if what i'm posting is related to this matter, and here is where people serching the same thing as i searched will arrive. i don't see the importance of the "older" or "newer" when the important is the keywords you search in the searchbox.

I googled something like "construct 2 drawing lives" and this was one of the top results i found.

  • OMG why did you bump a 4 years old thread?

Does it matter? As a newbie C2 user i search the forum for help and ideas and i guess other new users would someday arrive to this places so why not post my feelings and impressions?

By the way i finally decided to use in my game what brunopalermo suggested, tiledbackground and it's fine.

    https://www.scirra.com/arcade/action-games/ivans-run-28130

Other displays in my game are animated sprites, i was thinking about to make also animated lives but finally i liked the result with tiledbackgrounds. I guess if somebody wants to create animated lives could create as many objet sprites as lives and placed at a X fixed position +sprite.width*numberOfLive, i do this in most BASIC languajes using loops but not able to do in C2 yet

  • At this point, i was going to implement "lives" in my C2 first game, so i'll read this.

The idea of using tiled backgrounds adjusted to sprite width is fine, but if you have an animated sprite won't work, i see lots of possible solutions, thanks

  • I came to ask the same question.

the answer of mutuware is good enough for me; most of the time the particles are symmetrical or circular so the angle does not matter much, but i miss another important behaviour of particles that would be really cool:

As i'm new to C2, just tryed to create a particle effect and then load frames from a gif... then realiced that particles do not support frames like sprites do.. so sad.. will be very nice having an animated particle GIF, then import to the game... probably it will cause slowdown dunno.

I guess i can do what ashley says: spawn objects. thanks

  • Jesus i just realiced what was failing! because the "any key pressed" includes the SPACE key, so when you press the space key the condition "OR any key pressed" matches.. sorry so silly me!

It's ok, events and sub-events works fine then! THANKS!!

  • Thanks for response i thoght this was dead...

dop200 i will chek that thanks!

Kyatric thats what i'm currently doing but it works sometimes and sometimes not, i don't know why.

for testing purposes, i made a main event make it 'OR' block containing 'any touch start' OR 'any key pressed' then a sub-event 'key SPACE pressed" then in the subevent block put a goto next layout.... whay i expected to do is this:

Any touch (mobile or clik) OR any key...AND space key.. goto next layout... surprisingly it does not work exactly.... first condition works... if you touch OR press key causes no effect unless you have also pressed space key.. so far so good! But the surprise comes when you press space without touching or pressing key.. and it also triggers goto next layout!

    ...

However in the game i'm currently doing i make another similar structure to compare in an "OR" block several conditions that causes game over and a sub-event to chek if game-over events are actually disabled, then enable.

And in this case, this combination of (a OR b OR c) AND d works fine!

I'm on it i'm learning my own, don't worry.. thank you very much for feedback.. just wanted to post something cos i'm new to C2, greetings!

  • I have similar problems... but i have two 'OR' conditions plus an 'AND'

i'm new to construct 2 having previous experience in basic languajes.

I can't belive that construct 2 is so easy to manage and make games really faster but a simple expression like this:

'IF (a OR b) AND c' is giving me headaches to make it work (if it is possible, guess it is)

Yes i know i have to RTFM just commenting... it's so frustating.

  • Hi everybody!

Recently discovered construct 2 on youtube's tutorials and i thoght it was easy and need to give it a try...

so, just joined and started editing templates and RTFM... let's see if i can do something interesting.

I'm not acostumed to editors. I'm a big fan of basic languajes like yabasic and purebasic and i've created some games published in other forums like DBF interactive forum where i have shared some code.

Actually using editors is far away from programming but it seems to be an easy way to develope the artistics and designs instead of usual headaches coding.... i like construct 2 so i will spend time with free edition trying to learn and implement more stuff.

I'm watching and playing your construct 2 games to see what can be done and i used to post positive feedback so we will probably meet around.

I'm from the 8-bit era.. AMSTRAD,SPECTRUM... nowadays called "RETRO PIXEL STYLE" thats fun for me.

by the way i'm spanish, sorry for my bad english.

    Greetings to everybody, see ya!
