ok. i seams i`m not going to get my game back ><' even removed recent obcjects and still nothing.

editckd@just let you know that the couse of crash was timeline object.

  • Hi,

I was trying to make my character shoot the boomerang. Now when i`m trying to preview the game it`s crashes.

    file ORL.cap

i`m guessung that this crashed is cous aither by behavior of the boomerang or by an event. Anyway doeasanyone knows how to make obiect shoot another one? it would be cool if there would be an event for that. Oh and doeas anywohone knows how to ame a boomerang efect?

edit@ well , even after undoing what has been added game still crashes. ><'

  • Question is, is it off on both sides or just one?

check the cap file couse i don't remember.

  • It does. But start with platform game tutorial to learn the basics ( multi layout event sheets are included in this tutorial).

  • cool, thanks for replayes.

Sounds like your computer is slow, or you have a lot of other stuff running. The layout editor works fine for me, even with hundreds of sprites in the layout. And my computer is pretty old.

Well, altho my laptop is average , broos computer is top class and it`s still slows down. Just thought i mention it.

    aeal5566@ i'll remember that.

  • sound late 70's XD. i like it.

  • He means that deadeye and BenH already suggested changing the sampling to point.

ok it does work. however bug is a bug, and has to be anihilated

  • Turn the sampling in Application Properties from 'Linear' to 'Point'. It suits pixellated games better anyway. Alternatively, use Sprites for sections of background which do not repeat.

I will investigate the problem - I think I know why it's happening, but it might be tricky to fix. Could you leave it on the bug tracker so I don't forget?

    ok

Edit: beaten to the sampling idea!

what do you mean by that?

    editsxh@added to the tracker.

  • It shouldn't really matter which way round it is... could you send me an example of the order being important?

Unfortunetly it does. Even yesterday when i was making an event for character movement, and when i setted up the condition :"<reverse> 'move left' pushed down, 'move right' pushed down -> play animation 'walk' " it did not worked at all. i had to set it up where 'move right' was first.

  • Found glitch while learning construct. Looks nasty

    Change the rotation options.

8 direction works just fine for a Zelda type game

    thx

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • hi,,

    1. The 8 directional movement provided with construct is prepared for cars. Haw can i make zelda/ff style movement? Are you thinking about adding this type of movement?

    thx

    2. If player is leaving layeouts one, he appears on layeouts two. layeouts two has got four other passages to other layeouts, will i have to use variables for controling from which passage he will enter?

    3. Is there a possibility of marging layeouts in to one? if not, are you concidering making a plugin? ( acctualty i`ve got idea how would it work ^^ )

    4. Even with few sprites, layer editor is slowing down badly. are you planning on improving it?

    5. How many objects one layer can handle?

    6. Roughly how many layeouts construct can handle and how long it would take for 500MB game to load?

edit' i repeired few bits. they in bold

wow that looks awful... looks like a mario ripoff released 20 years ago that nobody, even then, would want to buy.

well thats mario, zelda2, and few other nintendo games spoof. it did make me smile. it would be good as a free demo game and not as a commertial project. i`wouldn't ever buy game like that.

  • I like ald games becouse they where fun. Fast gameplay, chealanging, simple controles. Developers had more creative ( but not hardware ) freedom. Becouse they where working in small teams they could comunicate more efectivly with each other.

Anyway, even if it`s is not that easy to make decent pixelart, it`s obviesly easier to make it looking good then hi-res picture. Just look at the RPG Maker Comunity. The amount of custom gfx for rm they making is just massive.

What i would like to see, are games with good hi-res gfx, that have the fill of the old ones. SotC and ICO are such a games. I loved metroid prime hunters when i played it for the first time couse it reminded me of quake 2 fast piced gameplay. Of course it doesn't have to be 3d game but i agree that modern harware alowes creators to do gfx better than ever before, and in this the direction they should go altho remebering that the base of every game they are making should be gameplay.

edit: btw. CHECK THIS OUT -> Pole's Big Adventure - Japanese Trailer 2 - new original game for wiiware by SEGA. After seing this i rapidly started looking for any information how to get a wii development kit and thats what i find out Apply to be nintendo dev rules. In my opinion it`s outrages - companies like sage can aford it , and sell crap they made for $5 per user.

  • or you can ask me, do i want to do it? i should be all right with making 2, 3 tunes for you.
