  • Just an update. I'm working to finish a game for an ongoing jam, but after that, I'll create the Construct Jam and start a new thread for it. As always, hit me up here or find me on Itch!

  • I'm going to leave this open and up for another day or two, then we're going to get it started.

If you want to contribute or have any ideas/input, please reach out!

I'm thinking a 3-7 day jam with 7 days to initially sign up. Surprise theme given when the jam starts. Engine must be Construct 3 or Construct 2.

Special prize category for participants that offer their .capx or .c3p (with or without assets)! Since this is for the community, there should be a reward for those looking to boost it through tutorials and learning opportunities.

Voting will be open only to those that also submit a project as well as a judge panel.

Ashley Let me know if you or anybody on your team would like to be involved in any capacity. If not, maybe the next jam.

GeoffB Thank you for stepping up! Email me at Marilefabledcha@outlook.com and we can get the prize stuff sorted out. If you're cool with handling the funds, I'd love to have that squared away. Even if it's only our $75, it's a decent start.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • That's a good point. What about something like Fundly? Donations/Fundraising page, but I imagine it might work for this. Would make it much easier for people to contribute.

  • I'm in for $50. I wish I had time to jam, but I just don't these days. So maybe promoting a jam for other people will satisfy that "itch".

I think that the prize money should be handled by a single, trustworthy person. They can be paid via PayPal and then issue the prize money that way too.

I'm happy to assist with communication and judging, and even setting up the jam itself.

    Let's do this!

Awesome! I was thinking two prizes. One for Judge's pick and the other for Community pick. I've never set up a jam before, so if you or someone else wanted to take the lead, that would be fine!

I don't want to be the kind of person to suggest something and then sit back expecting other people to do all the work ha.

As far as $, I'm pretty sure you're trustworthy enough. Especially since you're putting up $50. Even if it's just us, I think a few bucks will go a long way towards motivating folk to show us what they can do with the engine.

You think Ashley, Tom or any other staff might be interested in Judging with us?

  • Can we set it up? I'm ready with $25. Let's get it to $100. Anybody with a mature Itch account that wants to spearhead?

If straight $ complicates things, can we offer a gift card or some other type of reward? Could we funnel that money into license time for the winner?

  • Are these files you've created yourself, or are these files you've downloaded from other sources?

Sometimes, especially with older files, there are addons/plugins that you have to have installed in order to open files. Some VERY old ones that you actually have to use an earlier version of Construct for.

Have you tried creating a file, saving it, and opening it? Are you able to open them then, or will it still not work?

In any case, I think you should post a screenshot of what happens when you try to open a file.

  • Do you mean games you've exported aren't working? Like you've turned a project into an .apk and it won't open?

Or are you saying you're having trouble opening .c3p and .capx files?

  • have you considered Tween as opposed to bullet behavior? I'm still a beginner as well. It's just that I was using Bullet and MoveTo for everything, then somebody introduced me to Tween and it changed my world.

It's an amazing way to smoothly move stuff around.

  • this is tight. I'm actually working on a hypeman game right now. you listen to a few bars and have to guess how the line ends. glad to see other people doing hip hop stuff.

  • Hey all. I decided to get into developing games a couple of months ago.

I know am starting to see just how long, deep and wide that road is. I'm only beginning to scratch the surface with Construct and I'm LOVING it.

Just made my first game jam entry and first 'official' game, Wynn's Redemption.

It's a puzzle game with simple touch controls and endless levels.
