  • You are probably looking to use an array inventory, complex at first but useful once you know how. Check out the manual and some tutorials on how to create an inventory from arrays. If you pick up an item that's on the ground you would then add it to a slot in the array. The array can store the stats of the item etc

Its usually better to decouple your item data from c2 objects. The c2 sprite should just be the handle that references the 'item' in the data structure, then you can pull data out for when you need it.

If that was an overly negative response, I apologize to gameglaux. I may have overstated how much people care about his MacBook.

    zenox98 Sebastian

    No apologies needed here

It just irks me to see people feeling they are being forced or pressured into paying for something, when they clearly are not. I dont thing ive ever seen a free version match the full version of a product.

C2 users can either continue using c2, pay for c3 or pay for/use an alternative product. Theres no arm twisting going on. Scirra are the only ones here that stand to lose out from their new business model.

  • Try adjusting these to test:

    Too many effects

    Too many objects/collisions

    Too high resolution

    If all else fails:

    Your hardware device

    Your logic

If you want to use C3, you are forced to subscribe to it. There's no way around it.

    The free version?

"but the free version will be limited"

Then you pay. Youre not being forced to subscribe. Nobody is forcing you to do anything. I have a Macbook that Apple doesnt support anymore. Apple arent forcing me to go buy a new Macbook.

the proportion is significant, I suppose the ratio would be maintained if the survey is higher

The proportion is nowhere near significant when the poll is: pay $99 per year or $120 flat fee. What would you expect the result to be?

  • Those features are not useful for me for pc par exemple. In studios I have both experience with Unity and Unreal, and to be honest most of the time Unreal wais updating with features which are often more necessary for game studios or which make life easier. I prefer seeing how paying for C3 will upgrade how I work.

The features shown so far are not useful for me either. But they are new features nonetheless. Its pretty much a given there will be big new features of some sort. Lets wait for the reveals. All we know so far is theres a browser based editor and backwards capability.

Do you really believe that the subscription model will work in this case?

Scirra (and maybe the consultants they may have hired) thinks its a viable and sustainable business model. This thread is a bit of fun, but its a poll of under a 100 users

  • We understand Ashley,

but like I mentioned it in another thread, would've been (from my point of view) nice to have updates of new features instead of graphical upgrades to the interface, which is of course great too.

No point in Scirra showing all the must-haves first because nobody is going to want to know about the nice-haves. Both announcements so far are new features. I cant do either of them in C2

  • For number 2 they can make it like buildbox thats the ultimate easy to use game maker but the price is too much. I never seen games made as fast as buildbox games.

Buildbox is crazy expensive, but seems to be doing well. Its nice and slick but its extremely limited. It does look to be getting better over time. Buildbox is for wealthy beginners only!

  • This topic is polite not ranting. The reason the topics go into fights is people like the ones you see in this topic who start fights instead of answering questions.

Thanks for not ranting Nobody is starting anything here. Youre simply just repeating questions that have been asked before. Scirra have already said they will reveal more in the coming weeks. Read the blogs and FAQs. All anyone knows is whats been written there.

  • What's so special about C3 that we can't already do with C2?

We dont know yet. For me, nothing shown so far are must haves.

  • The site obviously wasnt built to take the amount of tears flowing from people who point blank refuse to pay Scirra a few dollars a month for C3
