  • Ashley Well, I don't use Doppler in my game. For me, the positionned sound would just adjust the volume depending on its position. But with the R198, something else is happening.

Here is a little capx I have done. It's funny.

Tell me what you think. Is it a bug due to the removal of the doppler, even not used,, or is it working 'as intended' for a positioned sound?

  • Nesteris I have no audio effect on the sounds.

May be I should make a bug report about that. This is so strange.

  • Hello,

I've installed the R198 version and discovered something strange with my positioned sounds, like if there was a dopller effect on them. (but I don't use that effect)

And I see in the patch note that the doppler effect is no longer supported and has been removed.

So I'm wondering what is going on with my sounds. Is that a bug ?

    Anyone noticed that too ?

EDIT : Here is a video to show the effect on the saw sound.

  • Tokinsom Well, it seems we can't change the layout size in runtime. :/

  • Thanx all for your answers.

Tokinsom Yeah I know I shouldn't use the save/load feature. It's dangerous when you want to make modifications. But my coding knowledge makes me very very unconfortable with dictionaries and arrays... I really will have to face that on day.

Until then, I will give a try with your variable trick. It should be easy to do. Thanx.

  • Hello,

I'm using the save/load feature in my game.

We can 'tag' the objetcs you don't want to save with the NoSave behavior.

But I've bump into a little issue and was wondering if there was a trick or something to avoid that.

When you 'save' the game, it seems it also keep in the save the size of the layouts. I find no way to avoid that.

    Why is it an issue?

    Well let's imagine a scenario :

-You realease a game using the save/load feature

-Players play it and save their game

-You want to update the game to add new stuff or fix things

-In the update, you decided to make a room bigger with more bonus because it was good for the game balancing

-Players get the update, load their game

-They get stuck with the old layout size (the camera don't go further)

-They have to restart a new game to get the changes

So is it important to save that layout size info in the save feature?

Perhaps there's a way to avoid that?

  • The new visual is really nice!

  • The music folder works for me so I don't know what happens in your project.

  • Somebody So in low quality, a shader will always look the same whatever the monitor resolution, but not in high quality. I got it?

  • There is a huge difference between low and high quality for Text and Shaders.

Try a scanline or a bulb effect. You will see the difference.

Aphrodite How can you force a monitor resolution change at launch? I have no idea how to do that.

  • Hello,

I just want to be sure to understand what is going on when you work with a pixel art game at low resolution. (in my case 640x360)

If my monitor is 1920x1200 and I play my game in high quality fullscreen, the game will be upscaled X3 to fit the screen ?

And that upscale seems to be greedy for not too powerful machine.

On my laptop in 1920x1200, my game with no shader runs at 30/40 fps in high quality (and is unplayable). BUT if I set my laptop monitor at 1280x720, I get smooth 60fps all shaders on! HELL!

So if I understand, the lower the game resolution is, the worse fps you get in high quality because of the upscale. Am I right?

If so, is there a trick or a solution ?

It's quite annoying because the game is originally in 640x360 and changing the monitor resolution impact the FPS but not the quality!
