  • So when you finish killing all of the green blobs, something like a new wave starts, and your character is warped back to the center of the stage and new stuff spawns in

However, when this happened, there was a box covering the point where I was warped to, so my little penguin guy appeared halfway stuck inside one of the boxes... And, upon continuing to move, I guess the character is programmed to move a set distance based on your starting position? Because when moving afterward, rather than my position correcting itself, I continued to move on an "offset" grid so to speak, and was always at a halfway position when moving up and down between tiles

I found out that you can actually fix this positioning error by walking into the outer wall though lol

  • Yeah it's been like that ever since the new site's been up; I imagine they're still working on moving everything over or have other plans for what to do with The Arcade or something

Still sucks not being able to see anything though in the meantime :/

  • If you press space while holding down multiple arrow keys, it'll move all of the blocks surrounding you at once :O

  • I think the design and the location of the ads are the main thing that's so off-putting for people

    • All caps
    • Center alignment
    • Using the word "buy" twice (AND having it in bold red font)
    • Being right in the middle of the forums
    • Telling users "We'll make this go away if you give us your money"

All just asking for people to get annoyed by them

Similar to how the credits for a game come at either the beginning or the end (and not randomly show up in the middle), I feel there are better ways to go about placing advertisements

And of course, the community can always help

  • Will rep/profile views/join date all be reset as well? I imagine that kind of stuff isn't at the top of y'all's priority list, but still kinda sad to see it all go away if it does

  • !

  • Could you provide a capx/screenshot of the events you're using?

Make sure there's no issue with parallax, and that the image point you're using is on all frames of the animation. If you try to spawn something at an image point that doesn't exist on a particular frame of animation, it'll just default back to spawning it at the object's origin

  • Is there a playable demo anywhere online or for download? Trailers and screenshots are nice, but the best way to get a feel for a game is obviously just to play it haha

Looks like this has been in development for a while, too. It's always cool to see dedication to larger scale projects like this :)

  • In the editor, you can use the drop down in the properties tab and choose what layer to move it to from there, or simply right-click the object and select "move to layer"

And if you mean in game, then there's an action for that at the bottom of window under the "Z Order" tab that lets you move objects to different layers from there :)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • The graphics are cute

Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of substance though as far as actual gameplay goes

If you're looking into one touch controls, definitely check out a game on the app store called "Badland" for reference. It's a really good example of how to create a huge amount of depth while still being restricted to extremely minimal controls. Not saying that's the path you have to take, but just so you can see what other developers are doing with the gameplay restrictions that you're using here

  • ^Yeah same; I can't seem to get past the initial loading screen :(

  • Huh

Kinda weird but I do love me some maths ehehe

A leader board would be nice, too

  • Oooohhhhh nice artwork

Any chance we can get our hands on a playable demo?

  • Yeah this used to happen to me a lot actually

The first time I just emailed Scirra support with the new file and Tom had to manually update it for me if I remember correctly.

After that, it happened again, so I just uploaded the old version for the time being

What it ended up being for me was that, even though it didn't say it, the new file I was trying to upload was too large, so I cut back some of the audio and animations and it worked after that

It could be something different for you, though; I obviously don't know exactly how it works but yeah

Best bet is probably just to email them directly

  • Wow the audio and even more so the visuals on this thing are insane

    In a good way lol

But I had such a hard time actually playing through the demo not so much because of the actual game's difficulty, but because the keyboard controls and ambiguity of how checkpoints work made it feel so taxing to try and play

Brilliant work graphically and atmospherically, but yeah like some others said in the comments keyboard controls could definitely use some work, and checkpoints need to be explained somewhere along in there

Best of luck moving forward with this project :D Can't wait to see how it turns out!
