That's super kind of you. To be really honest, aiming way higher than I was comfortable with is exactly what I've done. And to be even more honest here, I still don't how the code is actually working. It still was buggy as hell one month ago, now it's pretty stable, it's a freaking miracle. I really have to thank many people in this community for the great help. Thanks guys, really.

Also, I asked to 80bit to share his secret sauce as well. I won't have time to implement the cloud saves now, I have to freeze the code, but I'll try to do it shortly.

Oh, fantastic news then, because ignore gpu blacklist is already there by default in package.json.

    Problem solved, thanks a lot ! : )

After reading again the comments on the Greenworks dev page, it seems that having a .bat is blocking the chromium arguments.

Overlay works fine if I remove it (yeah!), so I'm doing it this way for now.

But I'm a bit worried to not have the .bat featuring the "ignore gpu blacklist" tag ...Does this sound dangerous to you guys?

I read, re-read, and re-re-read this topic, and I can't understand why the overlay is not showing in Penelope. Would you have time for a bit of help?

    • I'm using C2 r186.2, greenworks 3 alpha, and nodewebkit 10.5

    - Achivements work fine and that's super nice.

    - Steam launches a .bat with "nw.exe --ignore-gpu-blacklist --in-process-GPU" in it.

    - the game is named nw.exe. The steam_appid.txt is there too.

    - I added the Steam Api.dll to the package.nw

    - I added the "--in-process-GPU" argument at the end of the package.json, with all the chromium args.

    • I don't have a package-win.json file. (< problem?)

Any idea? The game is set to be released in 2 days, I would love to get this overlay working : )

    Thanks a lot!

  • Ah ah, thanks!

Glad this speach could be useful : )

(to be honest, I was just having fun with friends here)

Don't hesistate to post your early works in the WIP section!

  • Oh, alright then. I didn't think the cloud saves process was under NDA. You must be right.

  • Thanks for your answer!

Could the could saves been explained here by any chance?

It's not I don't want to talk with you on Steam, but as rumours say everyone will soon be able to put a game on Steam, this thread could be useful to many once updated as a FAQ : )

  • I was searching the forum for previous discussions about greenwork with node webkit 10.5, but the threads are more about talking perfs + NW versions and it's quite hard to find definitive answers in it. I'll update this first post and make it a FAQ so everyone releasing a game on Steam can read your solutions : )

OVERLAY: Would someone be kind enough to tell (again?) if someone managed to get the Steam overlay working with NW 10.5, and which Greenworks version has to be used?

CLOUD: Did someone sent the C2 saves in the cloud? Is there anything to know about it, like a special path to enter in Steam interface?

BUGS: is using an old version of Greenworks risky? Any bug to report on the achievements side?

Thanks a lot for your time!

  • Ah ah, thank you!

The game is getting a bit of attention on US websites, and even get (a few, but still) pre-orders on the Penelope's website.

Pretty happy for now, fingers crossed for the next week! : )

  • Someone just told me about it! (link has changed : http://kotaku.com/the-next-penelope-loo ... 1678837656)

It's incredibly hard to get a bit of attention from the US websites as a european dev, so I'm very happy to see this : )

  • ... aaaand, new trailer + Steam release date : )

  • Ashley I have no idea if this post could be interesting to you or not, but the Haxe creator is a lovely chap and a friend of mine, if you want me to do the introduction.

Bonus: we were on stage to talk about engines last month during a festival, and he has a very good idea / opinion of C2.

  • sqiddster maybe already answered, but about your janks. Are you using the build in save system? If yes, you're already using the no save behaviour as well?

I had those in the past on the game, even with nw 10.5

The save was a bit too slow on some computers, so the "no save" behaviour helped a lot when applied on most objects families.

EDIT: Also, how are you launching the game in Steam? The .bat -+ ignore gpu blacklist - seems to work ok for Penelope for the moment, not that much people complaining (...yet?)

  • Prominent Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this tutorial!

Very, very useful, and will help me a lot. (I'll have to run some linux tests very soon)

Do we already know which method is better for SteamOS?

  • Would you be kind enough to write a little "how to" thread so we all know how to export for linux? That would be a fantastic christmas gift : )
