  • I think that arrays would be best for that so when a layout has been used it gets removed from the array. But that is quite complicated if you're not experienced with arrays. But very very useful to learn to use early which I didn't <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz">

  • Did you write the string exactly like this below?

    choose("layoutname1", "layoutname2", "layoutname3")

    You have to use " before and after each layouts name and a comma between each layout.

    "Layoutname" should of course be changed to a real layout name in your project

  • on action > go to layout by name choose("layout1","layout2", "layout3")

    this will choose one of the three layouts by random

    You can also put the layouts names in variables and use "layout" &variable to make the string shorter.

  • Please people have to stop being so afraid. Someone will always get offended whatever you do and it's impossible to not offend anyone in todays society. Everything is offensive nowadays. It's getting ridiculous.

    People find something to complaign about all the time. Like if you make a game with both female and male characters and have 31 males and 29 females you'll hear it and people will complaign.

    Everything have to be political correct all the time and you can't joke about anything anymore. It's like Jerry Seinfeld said about it ruining comedy in this interview:

    Anyway "redskin" is not an offensive word in anyway and is used all the time and native americans in America call themselves proud redskins. They even have professional football teams called Redskins in NFL. Off course some people complaign even here but there is nothing to worry about in this case Lasmelan <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink"> I saw that someone commented on your kongregrate about it being racist and that is nothing but a comment troll <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

  • Oh, I see. Yes sprinting makes it alot harder and you usually only use it if you are in last place and have to catch up to the other players

    bclikesyou I'm working on making alot of variations of all the levels and also add random placements of obstacles so no one can learn how each level plays out.

    Atm I'm adding a singleplayer story which will be totally different from the multiplayer with alot of humor and challenging gameplay. So it's like making two totally different games. Or actually it's like making alot of different games because every mini game is a small game on its own with totally different gameplay.

    I'm just not sure how far you can take the humor. I'm a fan of dark/brutal comedy such as southpark and would like the singleplayer to have that approach. But I don't know if that is too much for the majority of the players?

    But the game is gory and has a built in drinking game so maybe that would suit it nicely. What do you think?

  • That one can be solved in so many ways depending on what type of game it is. You can change animtaion holding the object and you can pin the object to the characters hand. So there are many ways of solving it.

    But for example. You can have the object laying on the floor and when player overlaps it and you press "a" the object gets pinned to the character and you can walk around with it. And when you drop it you simply unpin it and it stays where you left it.

    I do not know any specific tutorial about this. Sorry.

    I can't see your variables but if you collide with the first portal you are teleported to the second portal and then you instantly collide with that portal and the events fire again and again and again...

    bclikesyou Glad to hear that. I'm just making a game I think is fun to play and at this point I know others do as well. It has started to be a thing among my friends and now everyone plays a couple of rounds of 8Bit FIesta before they go out <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz"> It feels good to make a game people actually play even if you as the developer isn't around. But there is still alot to add to make it last a long time.

    What dash mechanic are you talking about? The one being able to kill the other players or something else? <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy"> Is it in this video?

  • tunepunk That is exactly how you would do it on that type of game/level!

  • tunepunk I know and it can also easily be fixed with events. So that is why you have to plan depending on what type of game it is. But you can use a fancy background as you said to make it very simple. It's better than blurry scaling anyway. But as I said you can make scale outer/inner work for fixed sizes as well with some tweaks

  • The difference is that on go to layout you choose one single layout on go to layout by name you can make something like:

    go to layout by name choose(layout1, layout2, layout3, layout4)

    which makes it go to a random layout. You can make other things as well.

    So there's no difference in speed or performance but a huge difference if you want to include other things like variables for example.
