  • hello friends, I am attempting to make my animators job a lot easier but am having trouble with this scenario.

on the main stage of my layout i have a sprite of a man standing there, i have a cape sprite off stage. on button press i would like the cape to be attached to the man.

    thanks again in advance.

  • Thank you again ArcadEd!

  • Ok, so, im using a sprite based menu system for my game. my situation is.

upon end game, i want the menu sprite to be called to the front and fill the entirety of the view-able screen. the main information im looking for is how to call a sprite(my menu) of size 100,100 to fill entire screen.

  • i apologize for the new thread. in all honesty this is my first forum experience and i did not want to keep asking you questions when you were already so helpful geometrix.

Thank you all for your agreed solution, it all makes sense now, i was not aware that my condition was firing every tick after the flag was set.

Did you see anything else that i should be concerned with or fix or do differently

  • through many attempts of help from the loving community, i am still unable to get my actor to launch and forward and then have physics do its thing. instead when my actor is launched he drifts perpetually.

press space bar down to set the power

release the space bar to set the angle

i appreciate any and all feedback regarding my question or otherwise.

  • Geometrix, i cant thank you enough for pointing me in the proper direction. Yes i have been attempting to combine 8 direction, physics, platformer in many different ways. i have just recently dropped platformer and 8 direction. I am in full physics mode now.

You have been an immense help, the only thing i could get from my poking at physics has been lulz.

  • Thank you for the reply, i have never thought to use the bullet behavior, I dont seem to be getting the results i am looking for though. It seems that using the bullet behavior, when i apply force to the cannon ball it continues moving onward even after hitting the ground instead of slowly stopping.

To clarify, I am looking for a way to shoot the ball using the randomly generated power and angle that i have setup. once that information is input....i need a button that when pressed it will launch the ball at that speed and angle until it hits the ground and slowly comes to a stop.

  • Hello, I am working on a game that i am very excited about but i have run into a problem. here is the scenario.

you press a button to set the power of the launch (how fast the cannon ball travels), then you press a button to set the angle of the cannon. I have that part figured out. I need assistance on how to have a third button that when it is pressed, the cannon ball with shoot out starting from the left, moving to the right, kind of like kitten cannon or toss the turtle physics.

any and all help is always greatly appreciated. thank you!

thank you so much for your help ArcadEd.

  • Thanks again, i came to that solution as well when i was experimenting, sadly no that does not fix my problem.

the actor in the game is going to be running from the left side of the screen to the right, when he hits an edge the angle meter will appear, so this solution will not work.

do you have any ideas on how to make the angle meter work in this way?

as in going from north to east or east to north, 270 to 0 or 0 to 270

  • Yes i have been fooling around with it, works perfect.

perhaps you or another patron could help me with the compliment problem i appear to be having. it coincides with the power bar in a way.

I am having trouble getting the "angle meter" to move like the power bar. I need the meter to go between 90 and 180 degrees. I can get the bar to bounce back and forth smoothly using the code you provided me with for the power bar, but it refuses to work in between the 90 to 180 degree area.

to be more specific, the angle bar would start at 180 degrees and move up to 90 then back down etc

  • ArcadEd

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I thank you.
