  • Hi, I'm trying to open a file from a tutorial on here, it says it's for Construct 2 but from what I've read this shouldn't cause a problem (maybe I'm wrong), but it says when I try to open it, I have to install "sierra arcade plugin" first...I thought that was already there? It is the tutorial to add more to endless runners. Maybe I need the paid version of Construct? I'm currently just checking everything out. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • It can absolutely be done. I´d imagine it beeing quite a challenge though for your first game. Especially if you work on it alone.

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep this in mind for when I'm ready since I've thought about it and I'm going to try to make something more simple first. I had an idea for a platformer and also an arcade style game so I'll start with one of those and get used to Construct first. After reading some of the discussions and seeing what can be done with Construct, I'm excited to get to learning.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Hi, I've been getting into those farm/city games where you build/grow etc. and was thinking about making that type of game, I have my idea but my problem is that everytime I come up with an idea I realise it is too complicated for a first game or it isn't possible with the tools I have.

I was wondering if making this style of game is possible with Construct? Would it be super complicated? I know I have to learn the basics first, I just don't have any knowledge of how complicated whatever idea is to make.

Honestly, I have been going back and forth between the idea of using Construct or another piece of software but the other software doesn't really have any tutorials so I'm going to stick with Construct. So, I'm trying to work out what can and can't be done, so I can work out my idea.

    Thanks.

  • Hi wolf7,

quite often the Construct 2 tutorials will be fine to follow in Construct 3. However, you are likely to find some changes, often differences in user interface.

As your new to Construct, and multiplayer is quite a complex topic, I would advise you to at least complete a couple of Construct 3 tutorials first. This will help you get a feel for how Construct works, and hopefully if you find something that doesn't match up in the C2 tutorials you will know how to work around it.

You may also find it useful to look at the multiplayer example projects, you can find them under the "advanced examples" tab on the start page.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I will do try some tutorials first, I just wanted to make sure what I had plans for, I could do.

I haven't actually opened Construct yet because I wanted to check things out to see if what I need can be done and I wasn't sure if it was a timed trial, if I understand correctly now that I read, it is just a less featured version of the full.

I wasn't aware that there were sample projects, I will check them out tomorrow and get an idea of how things are.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi, I'm new to Construct and was wondering if it is possible to follow along Construct 2 tutorials in Construct 3? For an example, on the Construct site, there is a networking section in tutorials and a set of tutorials for multiplayer but they are for construct 2.

    Thanks.
