  • This should do it:

    Arrow: Arrow.angle = angle(Arrow.X, Arrow.Y, Objective.X, Objective.Y).

  • The emulator will vastly outperform most mobile devices. If there's any way you can use a mobile for testing it's better to start early and save lots of possible re-writing of your game in case you ask too much of a handset.

  • Thanks ramones - good to know! Clever userscript too.

  • Here's another example of how you could manage it, without using the anchor behavior - example.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Joannak, no worries - I'm too thick skinned it appears as I didn't take offence! How ironic that the forum quirk acted against you on this thread. It might be self aware...

  • Joannak - awesome! They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery - if only I'd found the other threads first... I agree - I think a sticky of known issues would be great.

In my defence, I don't normally reside this far down the forums in the lower levels...

  • I use google chrome and have never noticed a PM in my inbox unless I have somehow stumbled upon a legacy-styled scirra page where the notification is more obvious (but still not great). I might be missing something, but i have never noticed the presence of a message flag.

Would it be possible for the alert flag to be used to indicate an unread PM?

  • Bullet Gravity might be worth experimenting with - set > 0 and then tinker... Bouncing within a rectangular container like that will always yield predictable patterns unless you add a random element to it - gravity is predictable but will change the ball's dynamics so you could also change the ball's angle by a slight random amount on every wall collision.

  • My only concern about using 3rd party plugins is that major changes to C2 - like the forthcoming introduction of multiplayer - could break them... and Scirra are forthright in not supporting 3rd party add-ons when it comes to bug fixing. Unless I've missed something they are still not permitted on the Arcade, for example.

If a bug is encountered due to a breaking change in C2 then the rectification work is left to the plug-in author, or the community in their absence. I grant that it probably doesn't happen that frequently, but the next few weeks will be interesting for sure. So, for people like me who don't know more than how to spell javascript, that leaves me feeling that Scirra doesn't support the non-code writer more than superficially.

Scirra sell C2 as a platform that gives non-code-writers the ability to make games and I think it's an excellent tool. However, some of of the juicy and very useful game-making functions, like ad support - the ones you want after you've messed around with making a simple platform game for your mates - are not provided at all and are only indirectly supported through the SDK.

I know this thread is about ad support, so I'll limit my diatribe here... C2 is still the best tool out there for amateur / non-coders to make games, but I do wish that ad support would be formally provided.

  • In my opintion the cocoonjs user experience is 100x better than phonegap's - frame rate and rendered image quality. The down sides are the awful load time and the flickering splash image (amateur). You never know, however, in the same way we're waiting for mobiles to become more powerful to allow html5 browser games to work at 60fps, the same improvement in technology might make phonegap more viable as well.

  • AnD4D, I've never heard anything like that before - sounds like a right hassle and I hope you get it sorted. I had some issues with my merchant account a couple of days ago: +1 855 925 5386 was the merchant account help I used and should be a good starting point. I was expecting the worst but they were quite polite and helpful...

  • Aha! Looked weird but then I found that you have given the tiled background the solid behavior - your sprite is effectively stuck inside the background. Remove this and all will be well.
